Re: Avatar and Sherlock Holmes

STFU

Avatar was epic! Although Deci may not like it.

Re: Avatar and Sherlock Holmes

the story, the script, and the acting are all very weak in Avatar...

Re: Avatar and Sherlock Holmes

Umm, no. They are very strong, and consensus agrees with me. You just have expectations higher than everyone else for just about everything.

It's always cool to hate what everyone else likes right? Youre such a cool kid!

Song of the Day: In My Head - By Jason Derulo

Re: Avatar and Sherlock Holmes

From my perspective, Avatar was incredibly hyped to the point that i'm not so interested anymore, but when it's on dvd i'll watch it or if I can get a pirate version. Arr. tongue

But I did have a couple friends watch it, say it was great, watched it again and hated it. :s

Your = possessive. As in, "your grammar sucks."
You're = you are. As in, "you're an idiot for not knowing the difference."

yeah, people arent allowed to have differing opinions of a film, if i disagree with a majority, i must be doing it for the sake of disagreeing, right? you're such a tool.

yar, the movie had little substance, i'd imagine it would be obvious the more times you watched it...

the majority might say it was a good, not that it had strong acting a strong plot or a strong script...

Re: Avatar and Sherlock Holmes

"They are very strong, and consensus agrees with me."

If there are people disagreeing, you don't have a consensus, clown..

Re: Avatar and Sherlock Holmes

Well, personally I have to admit I have to concur with avo...

Rather not, but he's right... the acting was quasi-reasonable, the story is too cliche not to have me and my friends call it a mash-up (Amazing Blue Dickslap (Watchmen) meets The Smurfs meets Dances with Wolves meets Pocahontas meets the Matrix) and I'm not sure what to say about the script. Maybe that's the reason for the poor acting.

What I must say, in defense of the movie. The "special" effects were quite good, but it was just like watching a cut-scene from a good game.
I granted it a 5.5, for the effort...

I give James Cameron a 2.0, for trying to make a movie... but what disappointed me most was he had already started making a book to explain everything, for when a grand fan-base of the Avatar-world would be started. That's just arrogant, presumptuous and plain old thick-headed.

This forum is stupid.

yeah, that was probably part of it. so many characters only had one dimension to them, cant entirely blame the actors for not being able to make them believable..

Re: Avatar and Sherlock Holmes

i was feeling liberal guilt more then white guilt....

the bad guys were a corporation
soldiers were making fun of the main charecter's handicap
the planet they came from had destroyed their natural environment
they clearly compared the main bad guy to George W. Bush on multiple occasions
they referred to the good humans as "tree huggers"
the ultimate battle became not humans vs aliens, but humans vs nature...  where every animal lost was a trajedy and every human lost was a triumph...

So avogadro is like Professor X, hes got mutant mental powers of observation, you can be strong-minded like Magneto but if you go up against Avogadro he will pwn you because he is stronger than strong yikes

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
