I totally agree too, how am I suppose to be able to plan an SoR on the hopes of relying on randoms at the last second.

I suspect that would require quite a big rejig of the code. 

As for the thread suggestion... I was talking to someone the other week vaguely on this subject.  My suggestion to him was for the mods to hold off resetting two of the galaxies and effectively amalgamate them by creating a bigger galaxy with more families.  This suggestion was essentially bourne out of a teary-eyed reminiscing session, where we discussed what the galaxies used to be like back in the olden days; bigger galaxies, far more families and more players.  Whilst these smaller galaxies are a bit of a giggle they don't compare in enjoyment to the bigger galaxies which had much more scope for strategy. 

I doubt anything like this will be done, but for me it is an exciting thought to play again in a really big galaxy with a lot of families.

The top fams will have already gotten a substantial leader in economy and fleet, smaller fams that finally get randoms will fail and lose motivation and those players will end up deleting and going elsewhere. Starting the round on New Year's Eve was a terrible idea...
