Topic: Problem with my laptop

I have just fixed it  (seemed that i only had to use the vista-cd and reinstall that stuff, pressing F12 at start and start cd)
so all software is gone,
I reinstalled most or even all if I'm not mistaken.

but:
-Xfire doesn't want to let me log in.
-Teamspeak does not work ("error: server not available or...")

Re: Problem with my laptop

The problem is you're using Teamspeak instead of Ventrilo.

Re: Problem with my laptop

that problem doesn't seem to be conneted with xfire hmm
and TS worked before the crash, and it's TS I need unless ventrilo is the same and allows you to go on the same servers?
but still TS should be working.

Re: Problem with my laptop

When reinstalling a new computer there's a number of things you most likely need to reinstall:
Flash
Directx
Java

to make programs coded in/with those work.

Other than that reinstalls usually make you lose your drivers,  make sure you have updated drivers for your sound system etc. for teamspeak?

You create your universe every step of the way.

Re: Problem with my laptop

where would I get those updated drivers, or how can I see what version/kind I have?

are flash or java needed for xfire?

another game which works on singleplayer, to go multiplayer it said I didn't have the 'internet interface' needed for it.

Re: Problem with my laptop

you do need runtime environments, and not all programs work for all os'es, find the right verison

Re: Problem with my laptop

These issues are a result of a terrible understanding of the connection between hardware and software.

Re: Problem with my laptop

actually,

Xfire works now, what I did:
I went home and started laptop here (wifi connection)
so here at home on wifi it works, but at my 'kot' which is connected to a cable it didn't work.

still have to try TS now, but dunno if it's due to something I'm missing on my laptop or cause the owner of my 'kot'
prevented from using that much internet, although if I'm not mistaken xfire did work on another laptop. but i never needed it
back then.

edit: TS working aswell

Re: Problem with my laptop

It's probably lousy portforwarding or something.
