Topic: I am now a Conservative

I now declare myself a conservative, and by conservative I mean so in the traditional Burkean sense. The base of what these conservatives believe is that human reason is weak and can not account for all contingencies, and therefore it is madness to try and engineer a society based on reason. Instead, we are better off relying on tradition, the wisdom of our ancestors, for what works. Change of course is inevitable, but it should be done organically and gradually. Radical change will only lead to negative results. Furthermore, society needs strong traditions and institutions to inculcate strong values. If people were to rely on reason, they would dismiss those values and become extremely selfish.

There's what I believe. And no, it has nothing to do with the fanatics known as the US Republican party.

Possibly during the "I am in love" spat in General?  Though the hint of selflessness could have also been indigestion or another medical malady.  They're hard to differentiate.

Of course. I have nothing wrong with gradual, organic change. But radical change, the likes seen during the French or Russian Revolutions, will lead to unpleasant results with unforeseeable side effects.

No that's what Christian fanatics watch. Sadly, there isn't a conservative channel. You pretty much are limited to reading Edmund Burke, and there's only so much of that.

i am a state'ist, that means that i WANT MY ORIGINAL CONSTITUTION BACK, [kick] the fed, they have no right to tell my people how to live, only take our state taxes and protect us.
i fought for this country, i got shot for this country, i got shot at over 30 times for my country... and i as a vet of the US want my constitution.
stop trying to tell me what to do, when nothing i do effects you, stop trying to tell me how to live just because you are a conservative, and believe that everyone should live as you want.... that in effect is communism.
no individual is right, in fact most groups that try to try and stop others from doing what is they're God given right ... are the evilest thing on the planet.
the right to pursue happiness... it is a constitutional right.
