Topic: effectivness of kill/terminate scientists

So how effective would bombing an individual with kill/terminate scientists actually be.    For instance 4 people bombing 7 successful OPS worth of of the kill spell,  could bring their science down to 60% of what it was.

This is also lasting damage that can't quickly be repaired when preparing for war at the same time.   Against an attacker you're talking about kill X% of effective fleet and X% ability to repair,  against a banker you could kill some of their population(welfare) and their ability to aid attackers with income.

_______

then again you could also block/sab 49 portals,  place a bunch of nukes, and similar.

Re: effectivness of kill/terminate scientists

I'd rarther block the 49 portals...

I've never found killing scientists to be of any use, though in all honesty i've
never used it in large amounts like this (Except for HC galaxies, of course).

Do you know what the chain of command is here? It's the chain I go get and beat you with to show you who's in command.

Re: effectivness of kill/terminate scientists

Problem is it kills 3% TOTAL SCIENCE POINTS with each success... which effectively is .75% per category or .6% if they tweaked the code to account for resources.  What they could do is change it to make each success 5% of a SPECIFIC category, and it's base target would be random, but could be given more chance of hitting what's most effective based on agent ratios, etc in the same effect as nukes are (ie when you nuke a banker, if you are barely succeeding youre likely to hit anything and everything... rather when you are succeeding without breaking a sweat, youre more likely to nail the CFs, RCs, TOs (whatever they got most of) more often than not)... (so, if youre killing science on an attacker, if youre barely succeeding youd be hitting every category essentially but if you were easily breaking through youd more often hit their attack bonus, or construction, whatever they got most of)

Re: effectivness of kill/terminate scientists

i dont think that's right awexome, 3% of the total also means it destroys 3% of the points in each category.

and yes, kill sci can be pretty brutal killing off income sci on bankers

Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Re: effectivness of kill/terminate scientists

dang youre right im a dumbass... this H1N1 really clouds my judgement huh X(

anyway, 7*kill sci will only drop RP to 81% original, not 60% which was said in original post... lol at least im right there

Re: effectivness of kill/terminate scientists

and according to my calcs...

if it takes away 3% of the remaining science..

7 succesfull ops would lower it down to 80.79% smile

Re: effectivness of kill/terminate scientists

80.79% of the original RPs, yes. however science is not linear. it takes exponentially more points to gain each % bonus. (going from 0-1% is easier than 1-2% etc.)

Re: effectivness of kill/terminate scientists

its pretty useful also when you got a small guy in the core with 90% research who is gonna jump and pwn you
