I have played SD from when it was still a regular galaxy, but to be fair SD has been used as THE hardcore galaxy for say what; 25 rounds?
So we can pretty much say that SD is a HC galaxy. (ignoring draco)

Orion is also a suitable name to bring back, obviously.

Most of the fools complaining about it should be named Orion probably never even played Orion.  There is no difference between Orion/SD as far as play so the name does not matter.  The rules had nothing to do with making Orion memorable, it was the community that played in Orion that really made it special.  So bringing back the name would just be a disgrace and make no difference from just calling it SD.

Elro - SD was a normal galaxy for around 20-25 rounds before it got changed so I gotta say, I think its roots as a non-HC galaxy are still there big_smile

I played SD back in round 6,7,8 or something and then moved to tri because SD stopped or changed. Certainly not 20-25 rounds there!

Hmm, SD was around before round 1 if I'm not mistaken, and I'm pretty sure it stayed around in the old way until at least round 15 or a bit later, so I think it comes very close to 20. It certainly didn't change right after round 8, I would know because my tri won that round. tongue Maybe not quite 25, but you get the point. (incidentally, I've also won HC SD.. that makes me one of the few ppl around who have won SD in both formats! My word is law! X()

SD began in what they called Beta 3 for it BUT it ran at the same time that beta 4 in mw/andro started a week later.

Custom races have existed since the early betas, probably the whole time of IC
