Neptune and the SUN ARE NOT equidistant. The orbit is elliptical therefore at any given day the planet is DIFFERENT distances away from the SUN. If at several points of the orbit Neptune is DIFFERENT distances from the sun, it is not equidistant.
If you draw a smaller circle in the centre of a larger circle than those two circles will be equidistant to each other.
thanks for comin' out.
I thought it would help to repost what you said for the new page.
Equidistance is between two points, not two circles. You can say that not all points on Neptune's orbit are equidistant from the sun, but that's not what you said. You said neptune and the sun are not equidistant. Ignoring the fact that equidistance by definition should be referring to at least 3 points, Neptune can't be further away from the sun than the sun is from neptune, ever.

using the 'diagram' above, what you're saying is that a and b aren't the same distance from each other. big LOL

Obviously it's hard to draw a diagram of Neptune's orbit in the forum
But if you take the bit above as a part of Neptune's eliptical orbit, with the dots representing the orbit of Neptune, and (a) and (b) representing two points on the orbit, then it is correct to say that the points of Neptune's orbit are not equidistant from the sun, but as i already pointed out - that's not what you said. You said that Neptune is not equidistant from the sun. Clearly when Neptune is at point (a) the distance between (a) and the Sun is the same as the distance between the Sun and (a). In the same way, when Neptune is at point (b) the distance between (b) and the Sun is the same as the distance between the Sun and (b) (Obviously). Yes - the distance between (a) and the Sun is not the same as between (b) and the Sun - but again that's not what you said
Either you didn't say what you meant, or you're being very dumb
For those that don't quite understand the verbal explanations:
Diagram 3: Diagram 4
Q and D are equidistant from P. Q and D are not equidistant from P.
Q - - - - P - - - - D Q - - - - P - - - - - - - - - - D
I was using a metaphor that means God is watching us. You've heard this, there's a toilet on the roof.
