Has anyone read it yet? i just got it, i'm on chapter 4.
I'm allergic to reading anything other than IC forums
lol, well as i read further, i will post small paragraphs to sum up each chapter. i dont expect anyone to read, but i still would like to discuss the book...
Chapter 1: Basic outline of evolution. Myths and facts
< truth is, the vast majority of people who deny evolution aviod learning the concept because they are discouraged by the idea of "humans coming from apes". FACT: Evolution is not about humans and apes, its about how the gene pool is altered by both natural and artifitial selection. all mammals on earth are genetic decendants from a small "shrew-like" rodent that was able to survive after the dino's.
Example: Dolphin's off the coast of Chile are not Domesticated, however, they help rally fish toward the beached and aid the fishermen with thier catch, in-turn they get to feed off the stragglers. Now, its not that dolphin's are freinds of humans, but the rate of survival is more likely in that situation. Dolphin's that dont cooperate with humans(or any other life) seem to have lower survival rates, therefore not living long enough to pass on there seed. After thousands of years of constant favourability for the "teamwork" dolphins and less favourablity towards solitary dolphins caused genetics anomalies to induce inteligence.
layman's terms:
Dumbasses die and Intelligence survives and thats also why humans are nothing like apes, most dumb humans die. or atleast in modern times alot of dumbass cant get laid ![]()
Chapter 2: Domestication
<This chapter detail the effect of the human hand on animals. It was thought that dogs came from wolves and jackyls. Recent DNA testing confirms that all dogs came from wolves. But why are they so different? Many varieties of dog exist due to human "carving" of the gene pool. Dogs were only bred for useful properties, thus giving us the specialties that exist today.
in my opinion, this chapter was a little hard to read due to constant reference to other pionts. If you read it twice, its will be easier to understand.
Chapter 3. coming soon!
Chapter 3: Flowers
<ever wonder why roses are red? well as a defense mechanism against insects, many flowers develop ways to survive by utilizing the eyesight of insects. Insects see colour in the ultraviolet scale, whilst humans and all mammals, see colour on the red scale. insect cannot see red.
flowers are diverse, this diversity acts as a "library" to isects and birds. an animal that enjoys nectar from a specific species of flower if more likely to visit another flower of the same ultraviolet pattern. this is extremely useful for flowers to guarentee pollination with the right plants.
TRY IT YOUSELF! Introducing the NEW and improved "Insect Eyes"! all you have to do is get a blacklight and go outside at night and look at your grandmas garden, every different species of flower will emit a specific and unique pattern common in only species of the same kind.
