Pretty good, eh? Is that your way of saying average, satisfactory, could do better?

But the "assistance" system you use at the moment IS crippling your economy, yes? The bleeding does NEED to be stemmed, yes? What I'm getting at is that you do agree that there is a real problem with your healthcare system at the moment, yes?

well most old ladies who come to the hospital don't die on the floor while the janitor sweeps around them

If you went in with your arm severed, and they put it back on and made you stronger, and cured your acne and made your butt firmer, but somebody spelled your name wrong on a form, Americans would say it was broken

I dont think he meant that its broken beyond the point of working. The health care system clearly has some flaws to the point where people say it needs fixing (hence, broken). However, a bandaid and some therapy is more appropriate than surgically remasking the entire system.

Re: US shouldn't diss the NHS

This thread is filled with complete lies from the very first line. Literally.

The people who support government run healthcare are power hungry politicians, ignorant idealistic youth, and trash who want whatever they can get for free because God knows they'll never work for anything in their lives. Which one are you?

Advances in medical science and technology don't come for free. And no nation with nationalized healthcare is making them. You're welcome for all we've done for you.

So because some people are too lazy to work, government healthcare is bad? I think the NHS is a great thing, i'm not saying in the US its bad because I have no knowledge about it, but what I do know for fact is that the NHS works and 99.999% of British people would agree. You're always going to get complaints, no company in the world doesn't have some morons working for them, the NHS can be slow and miserable at times, but the job gets done and thats what really matters.

And again you proove that u know nothing. Discoveries and inproved technologies do not come from the healthcaresystem. they are made by medtech or pharmaceutical companies which in no country in europe with socialized healthcare are goverment companies.

Again you show that you have the totally wrong picture of NHS

Re: US shouldn't diss the NHS

You contradict yourself, neophous666: Slowness kills people. I don't think the people delays kill would agree that the NHS gets the job done. I highly doubt your claim that 99.999% of British people would agree that the NHS is ideal. Additionally, you did not address my point that the NHS cannot incentivise nor fund innovation as the free market can.

Who provides the funds and incentives to these companies? I want to bait you into talking about how innovation and advancements are made in your country because I know you have no idea what you're talking about. big_smile

To me this sounds like for example Bayer is doing research and development for their own intrest for surviving in the free market. They are not funded by the goverment.
In general most science is done by the companies with the companies money..
We have some institutes like the Frauenhofer Gesellschaft (MP3) which are state supported.

Science done in universities is state funded since education is state funded in germany. It is up to the university itself though to choose what they spend that money for.

If what you say is true then why do I have an article discussing why innovation is hard to achieve under the NHS?

If there were absolutely no innovations to speak of this thread would not exist... the NHS would not exist.

Re: US shouldn't diss the NHS

NHS pwns US healthcare system.

id trust the govt to run healthcare over insurance companies who are looking at PROFIT PROFIT PROFIT. Doctors do NOT run the US healthcare system- the INSURANCE companies do.

they actually have teams of people looking for discrepancies/ errors in customers forms and KEEP THEM ON FILE. so they'll still take your payments but as soon as you want to CLAIM for anything they'll look at what they've got on you and refuse- even for the smallest thing.

Just to clarify, the NHS wouldn't delay if it was life threatening. It may be insensitive but why does that matter? The job gets done, people are helped by it. I also think its a damn sight more sensitive than turfing someone out of hospital because they have no medical insurance.

If a US hospital refused to shift a guy's broken arm out of an S-curve because he smoked, that man would retire on the settlement.

Things you only hear in an NHS system:

"Your daughter wants boobs like who? She knows she's 14, right?"
"Is that a bacon sandwhich Mr Creosote? You won't be wanting that bypass then, no?"
"No, he's not dyslexic, he's just thick."

Re: US shouldn't diss the NHS

Not at all.  If your own government is publicizing how much better NHS is than in the dark days of the mid 00's when they didn't throw $$$$$ at doctors, it shows our for-profit system is better than socialized medicine.

This wasn't done by our government. We just published the results. If you argue and try and put holes in things you can do it to anything. That is all you did.
