Regulary, we find people dont know how to use (m)irc, and how the reach the IC-server, or the channels they like.
That's why there's a little guide to help you out.

To those who do not have the program, or don't know how to use mIRC, here's some step by step instructions:

1. www.mIRC.com -- download and install it.
2. Open mIRC
3. Hit continue on that register popup
4. Type in a name, email address, an IC-nickname and an alternative.
5. Hit Ok
6. Click the chat bar at the bottom of window.
7. Type /server imperialconflict.com
8. Hit enter and wait till it connects you (this might take a while for slower connections)
9. Type /join #YourFamChan
10 Hit Enter.

That simple in 10 easy steps!

To relog on:

1. double click mIRC icon on your desktop.
2. /server imperialconflict.com -OR- the little lightning button, top left with the 'connect'
tooltip
3. /Join #YourFamChan

If you become a regular mIRC user:

1. After log on and #YourFamChan entry, type:
a. /msg ns register A_PASSWORD AN_EMAIL
b. /msg ns identify YOUR_PASSWORD
2. Every logon after will need 1b. to gain channel ops and etc automaticly. (So you can monitor your fam chan)

- IF 'NS' DOES NOT WORK -
- Replace 'NS' with 'nickserv' -

To identify and join your chat channels automaticly upon connection, as well as join channels put this in 'Remote'

1. Click the little green button mid top of mIRC that reads '/A'
2. Copy/paste the following:

on 1:connect:{
if ($server == imperialconflict.com) {
/join #YourFamChanHere
/join #AnyOtherChannel
/msg nickserv identify Your_Pass
}
}

3. Click Ok.
4. Connect.

Mabey it is good for people that they know how to use perform

what is perform?
perform is an option in mIRC that does some actions for you automatic.
You can find perform in options.

Click on it and just enter some usefull commands in it
like:
/msg nickserv identify (pass)
/join #famchat
/join #general

in this way you will automatic identify yourself, join your famchat and join the main chat of IC

I recommend using nnscript and darkengine, it makes ur irc experience much better. Good explanation though, it will help the (irc) noobs to get around. Also there is a possibility to use psyBNC, but you need (to get or buy) a shell for that. This bouncer will stay in channel when you log off.

I am CSA at a university and changed all of my browser settings to prevent intrusions, but 'now' I can't get back on IRC nor mIRC.

You need a Java-enabled browser to use this chat. (fam chat)

mIRC just won't connect anymore.  I will soon reinstall my managed computers soon, but not just yet and I am feeling the pains.  Technet can do nothing for me.

To Register a Channel you must first register your NickName to do this type:

/msg nickserv register <password>

without the brackets <>. Passwords must be more then 5 characters long.

In order to maintain your operator status for your new channel you must identify with Nickserv every time you log on to the server. You can do this by typing:

/msg nickserv identify <password>

After Registering your Nickname make the channel you want to register by typing:

/Join #YourChannelName

When  you enter the channel look on the nickname list and make sure your nickname has  an @symbol in front of it.

Then type :

/msg chanserv register <channelname> <password> description_of_channel

Again without the brackets <>.

You are now  a new channel owner.
