geese: i'll be ready with pitchforks tongue
yell: cali bar is the hardest in the US, only a 65% passage rate (which, by BAR standards means impossible), props to him.  if he can pass along any tips that'd be greatly appreciated

Several of the big city universities in the Netherlands are amongst the top 100 best schools in the world. The quality of our educational system here is not Harvard like but it is top notch.

i'm with you 100% on this one.  it seems very odd that they would put such a massive barrier (i'm probably looking at at least 20k a year to attend law school) in front of me when i have shown interest in higher education that will at some point, hopefully, benefit the society of which i am a part. i can see paying something for my education, but not that absurd amount

Re: Lsat?

Most US colleges cost around $4,000-$6,000 a year. The talk about them typically costing $40,000 a year is nonsense. Only elite universities or private religious schools cost that much.

Re: Lsat?

wtf? where do you go to school?  you must be pulling numbers out of your butt.

http://src.buffalo.edu/studentaccount/falltuition.shtml

^that's undergrad charges PER SEMESTER, for tuition and fees only, not even counting room and board.

now how about law school?
http://www.law.lsu.edu/index.cfm?geaux=admissions.tuitionfeesexpenses

^that's lousiana state, one of the cheapest top 100 law schools in the country.  for in-state students it's 12k a year, for out of state its 24k a year.  keep in mind: not a private school, one of the cheapest for law

are you talking about community college? because then it might make sense, but who considers that college anyway?

Re: Lsat?

it's incredibly tough to get work though

I know a kid who just passed the CA bar, Stanford grad, JD + Masters in Engineer, he's idle

Re: Lsat?

seriously?  with a JD and engineering degree he can just go into patent law.  you have to have both of those degrees to practice and it's pretty damn lucrative.

Re: Lsat?

it was sad, he had a clerkship with a major firm but they had to let him go after he passed the bar

because if you don't pay your lawyer, you still have heat and power and fuel and a car...so guess who comes last

and he heard on the grapevine the partner knew he'd have to go regardless, but was hoping he failed...because if he failed the bar, the partner was gonna blame that for his dismissal tongue

Its is pretty easy to get Pell grants and scholarships. At least in Montana.  I pay only a little over a thousand a year after grants.  Plus those schools in Canada and Europe aren't free! They are paid for with levies and taxes.

That is absurd!! community and technical collage's sure and not for a full board of credits. Montana's state universities undergraduate tuition for a state resident  is about   $13,990 a year. Non resident is $25,650. That is a state University. Local colleges like Carroll are yes in upwards  to 45k a year. There are over 7000 institutions in this country alone. Only a small  fraction of those are state universities that charge this lower tuition.
