Black_Wing I'd say there are as many christians that wants "the evil ones" dead as there are muslims that wants "the other evil ones" dead. Also, it's not really the religion that this is based on, but it always starts with other reasons and then they use religion to help them do what they want to do, to get strength to do it. Just like the battles in europe during the Middle Ages, both sides fought (not for religios reasons) but used the religion to give them strength. Priests going and blessing their soldiers (on both sides) before the battle. A few does it purely out of religions ofc (usualy fanatics).
religion is just a mask to hide behind so ppl can commit crime with justification.

On a serious note I've always supported diplomacy as a first action. Unfortunately the particular people being dealt with right now aren't open to negotiation and compromise and have a history of not honouring agreements once made. So under the current circumstances violence is unfortunately the only answer, though it would be nice to find a way to fight that didn't result in the number of civillian dead being higher than actual combatants.

The "axis of evil" is just like the modern concept of "jihad", but only from a different point of view. Both of the people defending it claim that there's a demonic evil threatening us and it's bound to destroy us, if we don't destroy it first. It's bollocks, nothing but that.
What's really driving them is poverty. I think we all should know how people who have nothing left lo lose act by now. We've seen it in Northern Ireland (wich is the best example, I think, how christians can be equal hardliners), Nazi Germany, Vietnam, Russia, Afghanistan, Palestine and throughout the whole history.. When people have nothing to live for, they're willing to give their life for a useless battle..
If we want to get rid of the terrorists, we'll have to come up with an efficient way to stabilize their society and how to get it profitable again. Then, and only then will the terrorist acts stop.
PS: if you look at how the West has used muslims the last 200 years, it's not that hard to understand why some are so negative towards us

if you are saying its past move on then you need to increase your education standards. Smart people learn from the past and do not ignore it. If it happened that i had gone out and killed your grandfather 50 years ago. It would still affect you now 
and the major problem is that america doesnt learn form its mistakes, they invaded vietnam to try and stop the spread of communism, now they invade iraq for an equally stupid reason, yet neither battle could ever be won. At least when sadam was there there was stability in the middle east, now with him gone as soon as the american forces pull out Iran will probably invade.
The USA has got to learn to keep its nose out of other peoples affairs and that launching a military campaign into someone elses land isnt the key to solving problems as innocents get killer which just adds fuel to the fire

Iraq is no longer a threat, and theres no way they could foot an invasion and keep any taken land. It would be wasted resources, lives and time.
In contrast i could see them invading Afghanistan on the other hand, if the coalition were to pull out of there suddenly.

I didn't care to go through everything in this thread.
But this is what I know.
Winners make the history. Americans are the winners now, stop whining and try to catch up. I know you guys are getting close, but we are still at the top.
Btw, if you guys are whining about the US military going everywhere, why not go and attack us? We are stronger - we make the rules.
Honestly, saying American are this and that doesn't do anything. You still sit at your place while we sit at ours.

My biggest annoyance is that eventually the U.S. will piss off an entire coalition of enemies, who will work together to create a tactical nuclear strike (To cripple the U.S). This will end any such 'U.S. is best' bullcrap, but at the cost of how many million lives?
And that doesn't include if the U.S. starts randomly shooting missiles...In which case Russia and China will join the fun, and all of a sudden everyone within sling-shot range of another Country will be firing away.
On the other hand...Australia IS secluded. New Zealand are our long lost brothers, China is our biggest trading partner, and we are a political and military ally of the U.S. So whatever happens we are pretty good to go .

THe S. Viet Govt. didnt care to form a govt. They were corrupt and not to nice to their people. Also, their ARVN army was pathetic, and could not take the lead in a fight. Not all units for sure, but most.
And, the US Govt. tied the hands of the military.
Iraq is not Viet Nam. History has been learned. Military leaders make decisions in the field in Iraq. Not political's. The US military does not do all the heavy lifting, Iraqi units are now. Their is a strong enfisis on Iraqi units to perform.

i am an indian ( from india) living in america. I know a lot of the things that go on around the world and i know a lot more than most people in america for sure. does this make me any better than they are? no. it just means that i care about those things more and that they dont. simply put its interesting to me and not interesting to them.
the people who posted all those lists in the beginning of this thread about why they hate america/americans should read this paragraph really well. for you to list a whole list of things that is wrong with us is like making a list of whats wrong with you. the fact that you would actually make a list and say that is true and that why you hate us is so idiotic that you must be as idiotic as you describe americans to be. secondly, you say that we can't name all the european countries. like i said before, they dont care, but it is still like asking you to name all the states of america. If you think we have big heads and we thing big of ourselves, that is proof that you say things with no proof whatsoever. Most people dont care that we are the strongest in economy and military. What we want to see in the news is about local things and thigns within the country. i can imagine that people in europe are the same.
also, lots of people on the internet, even in the online games, hate america and start conversations about why they hate americans. and when i talk to one of these people i always tell them that they are worried about things that dont even affect them at all. America invading iraq does not affect europe. America having less strict gun laws does not affect europe. lots of american having faith in their religion does not affect europeans. they might be great material to debate over but they are not material that you should hate us over.
and my last comment....i dont hate europe and i dont hate any group of people. i just hate the bigots who hate us when we have done nothing to make them hate us.

i wouldnt, poor guy is probably just misunderstood. society is probably forcing him to do it, with all the laws, expectations, taxes, that a country forces onto the backs of its citizens.
