I stepped into the lift, which was small, claustrophobic and smelled really foul. "I have a bad feeling about this" I whispered out loud, waiting for the lift doors to slide shut. I clenched my fists and grinded my teeth together. What I really wanted to do was turn around, head back to the train halt and catch the first speedy train back to Imperial City.

The security door had been wedged open with a brick and I slipped through and walked along the landing. Most of the flats are boarded up and you wondered if the flats had been condemned because no one seemed to live here any longer, or at least that's the way it appeared since I didn't see any single living soul.

I approached the door and I knocked, but when no one answered, I crouched low and peered through the letterbox.

"Hello", I said and my voice echoed down the passage.

No one answered back and I stood there, staring through the letterbox, feeling anxious, and then I looked up to check the number again, "it was number 9, wasn't it" I mumbled out loud.

"Hello", I repeated, this time a bit louder.

I heared a noise and then a soft and throaty voice came back at me

"That you Lieutenant?"
"I could use some help, I don't know how much longer I can hold on", the voice said.

Using a large log, which I had seen earlier I breached the door. I entered the passage. The smell of gunpowder and blood came directly at me as I strode through the passage. I entered the room on the far left of the passage and saw a young man lying on the ground, covered in blood.

"What happened" I asked.

"I got shot", he said and stared at me with a sad smile as he tried not to scream out in pain.

"Tell me who did this, I want to help! What happened here???"

The man looked up at me and with his hoarsely voice squeezed out "It has returned..."

He coughed up blood and with his final breath he whispered,

"It has returned.. IC Mafia 20"

Only the godfather and mafia will know who the other mobsters are. Everyone else will be in the dark.

NIGHT PHASE - WHO DOES WHAT?
Each phase of the game begins with the night. The following can happen during this time:
- Before the end of the first night, the mafia must elect their godfather. The godfather is the leader of the mafia. He, together with the other mobsters, will decide on person to kill each night. He will also choose one of them to conduct the kill. The godfather has the final say in any mafia night decision. He will also appear to be innocent to the Police squad's investigations and is immune to being killed at night.
- The serial killer is a madman who kills one person every night. Like the Godfather, he is immune to being killed/cured at night and will only die if lynched.
- The Police squad has the power to investigate one town resident per night. By daytime, he will discover this person's role. He can do what he likes with this information but revealing it might reveal his identity.
- The Medical Team is not the same as the old known doctor, but works a bit differently. Every night they find out who is going to be killed and they are presented with the oppertunity to save that person. That person will be protected from any possible attack by the mafia or serial killer. However, due to limited resources: they can only do this one time each.
- The love doctor decides at the start of the game which two players are going to be lovers. These two lovers are so in love that they share the same fate. Might one die, the other will commit suicide. The love doctor is allowed to choose himself to be part of the love connection. Obviously they will know who their lover is, but won't know their lover's role. (This love connection can be a connection between any two kinds of roles)
- The Mayor is an additional role, which means it is on top of your given role. The mayor has two votes in every lynching and is elected by the town on day 1. Upon death, the mayor chooses his or her predecessor.

DAY PHASE - LYNCHING
During the day phase, everyone in the town will find out who has been murdered. All townsfolk (including the mafia, the serial killer, the Medical Team, the Police squad and special roles) can then vote who they think are mobsters. This is the lynching process. There will be a deadline to which the people must vote by. If there is a draw, the deadline will be extended and only those drawing will be voted on. If there is still a draw by the new deadline, there will be no lynching. Once the result is in, the person will then be dead and their role will be revealed. Then that round is over and night begins again when the night roles make their next choices.

WHO WINS?
The godfather and his mafia will win if they manage to kill everyone else off. The serial killer wins if he is the last person alive and the rest win if they manage to kill off all the mafia and kill the serial killer.

Everyone is allowed to post in the thread to discuss who they think is infected or try to make themselves less suspicious (if they are mafia!). You may NOT quote any part of messages sent by the game moderators. Doing so will result in your sudden death. Also, when you die you are dead and are no longer part of the game, you are not allowed to discuss the game with anyone.
