Depending on the country where you live, blackmailing can be illegal.  I would advise against it.

In addition, you are forcing them into a fundamental trap: that person can never be sure that you will keep your word.  True, it's in your economic interest to not break your word later.  But what's to say you won't demand something else later on? 

Your "best interest," in this case, isn't to make a deal.  It's to make a deal (maybe get $10,000), collect the money, then a couple years later, say "oh, I need money now.  Give me $5,000 more or I'll spill" again.  She knows this.  Therefore, she'll act based on that assumption.

What does that mean?  If you've already violated her trust by threatening to tell her husband, then there's no reason she should believe you will keep the secret later.  Your offered word at this time is a terrible deal, regardless of what  you hold over her.  It becomes the equivalent of a hostage negotiation: If you don't think you can win back hostages by making a deal, you are forced to get the hostages back by forcefully taking back the hostages.  In this case, she would only have one option: somehow level the playing field with you.  The method can be left to the imagination.

Suffice to say, simple psychology says this is a stupid idea.

You're oversimplifying it.

Assume he approaches the woman, and she says no.  You go to the phone to tell her husband.

If she cares about keeping this secret (which she apparently does), you're forcing her into a hostage situation.  She must either watch her life fall apart before her, or she must somehow stop you.  She has only moments to even think of something.  That is a physically dangerous situation, equivalent to daring a murderer to shoot you.  You're bringing a person into utter desperation, pretty much creating the situation for her to do anything at that point to stop you.  Once a person crosses the boundary of the law and is willing to break the law to stop what they see coming... there's no bounds to what she can do.

Now assume she says yes.  She still doesn't know if you will actually keep your word, since you're already "the bad guy" in her eyes.  Same problem.

EDIT: If you do end up telling her husband, then you've branded yourself.  YOU are the bad guy.  YOU are responsible for destroying this person's life, at least in her eyes.  As such, if she does end up going crazy and wanting to seek revenge, who does she take revenge against?  Not her husband.  You.

Not sure what i should do and if i even got anything to blackmail her with. Could very well be a family member. who knows, although i noticed the guy has been going to her house alot since her husband is away.

but i think i've got something here, just not sure on how, and if i should use it.
