ok i can be bothered now because i love my language and I wish people would stop butchering it(yes you Aleph!). The point is that this phrase is completely backwards. What you're trying to emphasize is that you don't care about it(what he thinks of you). If you say 'I CAN care less" then it means you are able to care less what he thinks of you, which means that in some way you do care what he thinks of you. Clearly this is not what you meant. The phrase is supposed to go "I CAN'T/couldn't care less what you think of me." If you can't care less about it or anything else, then that means it is the thing you least care about in the world, which is indeed what you're trying to say.
