im not saying they cant. the only reason you're using that word is because of the negative connotation associated with it and not an attempt to use the most common definitions of words.

But neither of them specifically mentioned race. They created the exact same rules for everyone. How can that possibly fit? What is the distinction between these two policies and gay marriage in terms of discrimination?

they mention grandfathers and taxes, they are using those to distinguish between the black/poor and the wealthy.

Mentioning grandfathers is a specific reference to race? How so? And if so, how can that same logic not be applied to gay marriage?

using grandfathers was a way to avoid people of certain races to vote. marriage isnt between a man and woman inorder to keep gays from being married.

The Marriage Amendment would be a way to keep gays from being married. So would every state Constitutional law that defines marriage as between a man and a woman.

marriage was already defined as between a man and woman. they are just preserving their culture from the attack of wackos who think ther are outdated and their culture needs to be destroyed.

Interesting you bring up the grandfather clause, because somebody was trying to argue the XIVth Amendment doesn't mandate color-blind laws. and of course theyre wrong because that is why the old Klan had to ban the vote to anybody whose grandfather could not vote, instead of banning the vote for blacks--they could not constitutionally ban the vote based on race after the XIVth Amendment.

however in the context that people are arguing your values arent relevant, they are out dated, we need to get people to stop believing in religion; like morbo was, its a valid argument.

Anyway, imposing the restriction that only a "man and woman" can marry is restricting the freedom
of law-abiding and tax-paying citizens.

we understand. Take a look at the crocodile: the gender of a crocodile is determined by temperature.

I'm not disputing that, in fact it's well established in the scientific community. What I had thought was meant by the "environment" of earlier posts was the "cultural environment" in which the individual grew up in. Either case your crocodile example doesn't apply to the discussion here unless the study showed a higher % of the male/female croc population went gay due to temperature change. So far the study only showed temperature change (global warming) is causing gender imbalance in the croc population.

yeah, because the real reason gay marriage isnt legal in most places is because the majority of people secretly hate gays for no reason; and not to because they are trying to force us to change our morals, values and culture.
