Topic: Leave the problems for the newguy

http://www.spitsnieuws.nl/archives/video/2009/06/bush_liet_gm_links_liggen.html

In a interview ex-vice president Cheney admitted that former president Bush knowingly ignored the troubles at GM company and left them for the new president, because he didnt want to be held responcible for anyone getting fired!

Well tongue atleast he saw the problem enough to totally ignore it and let it get worse, which means in 8 years, he finally learned how to see certain things comming!

Oh and btw, isnt there something in some pledge he took about doing whats best for the nation?

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

Ya... so your opinion is saving gm is what is best for the nation?

Bush was smart not to take action with GM because he knew it wud bankrupt anyway.

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

The new guy could have been republican

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

that wasnt in his mind tongue

you guys lack reading abilities

he did nothing, not because it was the right decition, but because he didnt want to be held responcible for the job loss. So that isnt thinking of the people, thats thinking how he would be remembered.

Also, obama already won

also, who knows, maybe if Bush reacted, GM could have been saved for a shimmer of the cash thats now used

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

Why should he react? Why should GM be saved?  Doing nothing to prevent suck corporations from vanishing forever is the right thing.

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

Doing nothing would have been the right thing to do. Shame they wasted so much before it went bankrupt anyway. And these are the educated elite who lead you.

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

I could have thrown GM into bankruptcy, 5 weeks sooner, for only $10 billion!

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

lol

agreed with BG and Chris. GM could not be saved and wasn't worth saving. Doesn't matter if it was due to intelligence, laziness, fear for public opinion or coincidence but Bush did the right thing there.

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

Actually... um... leaving this for the new guy is EXACTLY what you are supposed to do.

Let's use an example:

Pretend that, on January 17, 2009, Bush ordered the US to invade Iran.  Four days into it, there's been significant progress, but the job isn't done.

Then Obama comes into office.  "Shit, shit, what do I do?"  Now he's gotta figure out how to reverse or redirect a sudden shift in policy which he had no preparation in organizing.  Essentially, he would be winging it.

That's exactly the problem here: Bush dealing with the issue would mean that Obama would have to either fight Bush or silently accept his policies.

that is the worst example ever

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

Cheney is such a dickhead,no loyality to anything or anyone.
I bet he isn

The inmates are running the asylum

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

If it wasn't for watergate, Cheney would be holding the title of "Tricky Dick" at this moment.

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

Um he kept his mouth shut about amnesty and gay marriage

That was pretty loyal

Why?  It's only trying to demonstrate one thing: In a system where power transfers between people who disagree with each other on those fundamental issues, it is better for the older person to leave key issues to the newer person, rather than making key decisions which would force the new administration to stick with the policies of an older administration.

I could have used an example of health care reform, social security reform, or any other policy that creates long term commitment in its process.

whatever Bush swore to do doesn't matter. upholding a piece of paper written over 200 years ago is not high in what the US public wants from their President.

"The new guy could have been republican"

I think it was rather clear that the next president would be a democrat tongue

1.  That's revolution and I suppose you can have a revolution but not by whining for govt to give it to you, you gotta blow shit up you lazy bastard

2.  I don't think the American people were ready to storm the Capitol and print trillions in Monopoly money to bail out the Fortune 500.  I know most of Washington thought so, somehow, but for one thing gas was too high to drive that far

Re: Leave the problems for the newguy

surely Obama wasn't hailed as the Messiah because people believed in his ability to uphold the US constitution?
