a)  Who thinks we should re-evaluate, repair, change, or replace our society's system, because, due to new technology or other factors, it is possible for there to be more opportunity for people to be able to PROVIDE FOR THEIR OWN essential needs?

Or

b)  Who thinks we should not re-evaluate, repair, change, or replace our society's system, because and all the current frustrations humans face in PROVIDING FOR THEIR OWN essential needs is being adequately addressed by our current system?

Any system that denies each person the freedom to secure their own needs oughta be revoked.

Most people in the UK think that poverty is not being able to afford designer clothes and going on holiday.

Lets say this. If there's extreme poverty in the US, I will care. If there's extreme poverty in Australia and women are selling themselves as prostitutes to make ends meet, then I won't care.

No, to me it means surviving with dignity and economic opportunity: food, shelter, housing, healthcare, education.

But to someone else, it may just mean food and shelter.

I don't know how much experience you have with poverty in first world countries but it's almost always because the individual made poor decisions. It's not ethical to make other people pay for their mistakes.

education, aye? before many of the things that we now consider part of basic education was ever taught, everyone in the world lacked essential needs? healthcare, so the medicine that was discovered last week, needs to be available for someone to have their essential needs, and everyone in the past was deprived of their essential needs. food, so people shouldnt have to work for food, they should just leech off of others? nothing that is a product of someone else's work should ever be considered an "essential need"; its just bullshit. and because nothing that is a product of another human is an "essential need" there are no essential needs any system should provide.

I love how they start with the basis of entitlement but never address the fact that they're proposing to force people to do certain tasts for money that most people of those professions just can't/won't do them for. Supply always decreases and people end up waiting for those "essential needs." Not to mention you run those people's lives and control their industry, ruining the benefits of competition and incentives for innovation. [hiphop] all that progress, we can be equally poor together.

He assumes government must fix everything with his first statement, then when we show a flaw with his question allowing us to show government is not the answer he goes and changes the question.

Skoe there is also the safety net ideal, where for the common good you provide from taxes unemployment for a limited time, food stamps, emergency medical, etc.

it is saying that if someone doesnt have access to the fruits of someone else's labours, who doesnt want the fruit taken by people the system needs to be fixed so that it is available to them regardless of the person's feelings who created the wealth, as long as the thing he desire is deemed a "essential need"
