Re: Trading Stocks(NYSE), anyone good?

lol big_smile

anyways BW...reccommend some more stocks tongue ..i need a turn around i was up by 1400 now i'm only up by 900

i sold my google stocks a little early..got a decent profit off them though...i could've made about 100 more but i pulled out too early

i bought some gay stocks like DELL,AZZ,WM
DELL -cuz it went low..and i thought it was bound to go back up..it's average is preety high compared to what the price was then..so i bought a lot of thos

same ideaology with AZZ and WM

i still think they'll turn around for me..even though all together they're giving me a loss of over 450...Kraft foods is doing good for me though..it has got me about 120 dollars so far big_smile

so what do you suggest BW?

Re: Trading Stocks(NYSE), anyone good?

I finished school with an M.S. finance and making a living off of my own money management firm... :-p
Didn't read the rest of this, just knew it was directed secretly at me wink

Read a bit more - some of my favorites right now:

TRMD - Inflation based product in an inflated economy, still has some strong potential and the occasional huge dividend.
BAC - So beat up with the rest of the financials, but i'm not sure it should be, good long term outlook from here i'd say
CF - Fertilizer. Real strong company in general.
LINE - Like the dividend, a bit late on the oil services industry, but still not bad to have around at all
EMR - Always good to have.
PCU - moved really well early in the year, been holding them about 1.5, good ol' Southern Copper
CFC - Another value move - bought in at the 3.80 mark or so, real pleased so far.
BSC - but only because I got to buy in at 4 and sell out at 11 a week later, nothing much to it now at a guess.
PEP/KO - both strong, good to have around to count on.
WMT - strong company, and in a recessionary period people are looking for cheaper goods - where to go but walmart?
MCD - Same reasoning as walmart :-p

Some of those are my favorites due to future outlook, a few just because i got lucky and hit on them so far this year.  At the moment for 2008 I'm definitely up 11% though (again, lucky) so we'll see how it goes looking forwards tongue

I'll probably slowly begin moving away from some of the strong quality, monster companies in there (weight wise, they will still have exposure) as summer approaches, and start looking again at the undervalued shots the beaten up US market has to offer.

Re: Trading Stocks(NYSE), anyone good?

What he said.

I'm thinking of investing in the stock market indirectly like in a mutual fund. My first goal is get a decent salary, pay off debt, save $10,000 and then use it as venture capital, I'm thinking help crab fishermen buy and trade Individual Resource Quotas for a split of the profit. Then when I have @ $20000 I could start buying foreclosed homes and repairing them for resale. Even in a bad economy that earns money, and in a boom it could pay off huge.

actually i think i have you on msn from somewhere...so i'll talk to you on there too...and ask you of the other stuff big_smile i'm not certain about..

Re: Trading Stocks(NYSE), anyone good?

Windows.....what are you trading in of those ??
Are they on your watch list ?

Why BAC and not C ? under that same consideration ?

I like LINE

Check out SGR.  A favorite of mine.  Its a Kramer pick as well.

@ Yell,
Pay off your revolving debt, and close it down.  Credit cards and like stuff.

Stay away from Crab...ROFL.

I like the buy and flip foreclosed.  Make your first move work....you would be surprised.....you can finance it as a primary.
Especially now, as a Fed backed (FHA, etc) primary residence, you would be surprised what you can get.

do it bro.  You seem like a sharp dude.  Im sure you can do well.

Re: Trading Stocks(NYSE), anyone good?

Yeah we have a kind of slump here what with appraisers aiming too high by 25%

The only sure bet is to take a damaged house and fix it, that's sure to increase the appraised value. Happily there's plenty of rundown foreclosures

Crab...well right now I see a perfect storm of a viable industry artificially choked by government regulation--the quota to prevent overfishing. That means in the early days one could speculate on the permits and still recoup out of the eventual production. When speculation gets intense that always fails because people start borrowing to enable production--look at agriculture. But in the short term it should be good if you go in with a partner who can either sell or use the production permit himslef.  Of course by the time i could get $10,000 above my debts the window should be gone. We'll see.

Re: Trading Stocks(NYSE), anyone good?

Yell....

the Beauty of it is, the Federal Foreclosures actually give a "Fix up" allowance built into the note.  You get the funds up front at foreclosure.  So, you live there, fix it up as you can, hire subs.
Then you sell.

Best investment you will ever make dude.   I think you are single.  Trust me, thats what you want to do.......while you are single.

Have the buds over for a beer party, and drop a new floor.
Fire up the grill, and paint the house.
Bring in the girls, to make a garden.

Home Depot/Lows, drop in a simple set of new cabinets/bath vanities.
Go to the local stone place, a small mom and pop place.  Ask them for Extras off the slab to cut your vanity tops.
Ask them if they are willing to move any stone to get your counters cut.  You would be surprised at the deal you can get.

If you are single.....dude.....now is the time....do it.
Fed is SCREAMING to loan to primary lenders willing to move a foreclosed unit.

LINE seems to be a nice stock to buy, i think i might just buy a bit of that

SGR on the other hand doesnt impress me at this point as it is preety high and i dont really think a engineering and construction company is guna do much better at this point..so i think it will fall a bit ...it should be a good stock for when it falls ....am i wrong?

well i am inexperienced at this so what i said is just my stupid commentry in my head big_smile...this is jus some fun competition i am a bit interested in big_smile and wanna win tongue

Re: Trading Stocks(NYSE), anyone good?

SGR is a long term play.  Look at its projected earnings.  Look at the field it dominates, Nuclear maintenance, and Nuclear sight construction.  Its a leader in the field.  A solid play.  I bought it at 37.   I purchased more at when it came down from its first rally.    Im thinking of getting more.....It looks poised to shoot back to its high on the market rebound.
I like SGR.

I like C short-term.  Banks are going to rally.  You can think of Well-Fargo as well.

I dont do mIRC or MSN.  sorry, no time to chat.

BW,  C was another play I was looking at, but felt like BAC was the best in the industry and being dragged down a bit more based on industry where C deserved it as a bit more as a company - much like Merrill Lynch

it is a private game but there are open games on the site too..it's a stock simmulator the website is investopedia.com

by the way BW...why do you think banks are gonna do good soon??

Re: Trading Stocks(NYSE), anyone good?

Nuclear is going to be huge. Especially since either McCain or both Democrats want to curb carbon output--dumb, but that means new power plants can't burn stuff. Nuclear means "polluting" with hydrogen and oxygen and water vapor. There's thirty years of experience with it and Toshiba and the Germans have microreactors that can be shut down without a meltdown. The big holdup has been federal regs and the Not In My Backyard suyndrome and both can be overcome especially if we have more rolling brownouts.

BW first I need to graduate this summer and get a bigger salary as a paralegal. Then I can get out of the credit hole I jumped into to buy courses. Then I might get a FHA loan. I dont want to be a 2% down buyer but if I can get $8000 more a year I wouldn't have to be.

Sadly the buds are onto that one, if I called them over and then asked them to lay a floor I'd either pay them $15 an hour or be laid under it.  No "barnraising" in CA

I like C because it is the Industry Standard.  I also, in retrospect, like the fact, they were the first to seek capital.  I care less where the capital came from.....in this case the UAE.

ROFL......under it.

Yell....advice.

If you wish to roll your first property....as little down as possible.  Never expose your capital.
You never know when you have to walk away from it.

Same if you lease a car.  NEVER put a down payment on a leased vehicle.  Crash the vehicle, you never get the down payment back.

If it is yours...house/car....different story.  You wish to minimize payments, and you can do w/o the capital....fine.
Same as there is never a "paid to much" on a item for your enjoyment.

Re: Trading Stocks(NYSE), anyone good?

Disney is still a big "IF" long term, they don't have anything really solid apart from the parks and there's a strong possibility their copyrights on Walt's characters will be voided on constitutional grounds.  everybody knows they need partners to recover their stride; but their Board is so nasty that they can't keep anybody who could turn them around. ie Pixar and Dreamworks

Warner...why invest in music stock? Are they going to figure out how to stop filesharing online?

Maybe i'm wrong, but the way i see it is that you want to buy shares before something big like that. When they move so many million units, their profit/shares will go up.
