Yes it is explained in Zeitgeist that easter is the time when days become longer than nights thus light beating darkness or good beating evil.

i find it starnge how much of you believe a movie without checking what it says...
Horus for exampel wasn't born by a virgin.. he is the son of Osiris and Iris...
Osiris got killed by Seth (his borther) and put into 14 pieces... Iris put them together.... but couldn't miss one part.. his Penis.. so she formed one... used here magic to bring him back to life... stayed a night together with him.. and got pregnat... after that Osiris died again.. and became leader of the underworld... there is no orginal text who calls Isiris a virgin... also Horus wasn't crucified... and he didn't get rescued after 3 days...

same with Dionysos..
he was the kid of zeus and semele... though Zeus killed her by showing her how he really looks..
then he put the small kid into his own body... so dionysos actuall was born by zeus 
thats we he is called the twice born...
though later he got killed (not crucified, he did get cut into pieces, cooked etc... nice death ) and was reborn (not after 3 days)... in some strories by a virgin... also he did do wonders... but he never made wine out of water..

lol pretty much all of the dates were chosen for symbolism and because they tied in with existing practices; it was a good strategy for conversion: "see, you guys have been doing it more or less like you should for ages"
it is not something people should be surprised about
@matrix, i think your missing the piont of the movie, horus, jesu, dyonisis etc.... were stories. since there were no books, the source of these stories were the stars.
what your doing is like taking a fictional story and believing it to be true.
for sure, some things were meantto coincide, like xmas.
other things, like easter, drew from the passover (judaism), for, fyi, jesus was crucified the day before passover

there are a lot of good books about the conectione between religions and stars

for exampel some of those religions used different names for stars etc...
though the movi just sounds as would have all called the 3 stars the 3 kings.. which isn't the caese.. starts had different names in diferent religions...

The stars weren't called the three kings....
They were represented BY the three kings in the story of jesus's birth as tells the pagan version.
In the bible the kings are the magi and it doesnt say how many there were of them, but they did follow a star in the east.
"1After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi[a] from the east came to Jerusalem 2and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east[b] and have come to worship him."

3 kings were probably added by the church to represent the pagan astrological beliefs.

How is that full of mistakes when most if not all of it is plausible.
I just showed you some links which show connections between the two Gods\prophets. It shows that all ancient beliefs are connected to the sun and the stars. Don't be so close-minded that in order to protect your own beliefs you wont even consider other points of view.

So you think Easter as we know it today has nothing to do with the Spring Equinox? Fine. Stupid but fine.

Easter is linked to the Jewish Passover not only for much of its symbolism but also for its position in the calendar.
...further on you can read why the vernal equinox is relevant, but a discerning mind notices the difference between the easter and christmas, where christmas was artificially assigned to december, whereas with Easter, it follows on the Jewish Passover. in the first instance, you have a christian feast superimposed over a pagan one. With Easter, it is a christian development, so to say, that is organic with the Jewish feastday off of which it is based.
which is why you sound silly trumpeting the significance of vernal equinox. if the Jewish passover was in june or november, so would easter. vernal equinox is intrinsic to the dating of easter, not to the meaning nor essence of the feast and its symbolism.

Christmas day is december 25th, the birth of christ(as set by the church), horus and other gods\prophets, because that is when the days start getting longer in the N hemisphere thus the light starting to fight back against the darkness.
I just watched the movie, and I'm not going to bother to sum up all the things that are historicly incorrect It gives you a different angle of things, but that's it (and I'm an atheist)..
