Topic: Zimbabwe... Fixing itself?

Ok, so I don't want to jump the gun on one of the worst places in the world, but it has gotten to the level where even Mugabe's vote riggers couldn't be bothered (or revolted) to do a proper job a rigging the vote.

The Military has already said that it would not accept another government, but if the opposition could do an immunity deal with the generals and some sort of economic recovery plan, we would hopefully see Mugabe and his wife put to the wall be Christmas (and, yes, she is just as bad) and some relief brought in for the people.

Because any actions done by a white government could be misconstrued as an attempt to regain the farmland confiscated from the white farmers.
And our Army is already busy in Iraq.
And we don't have the rescources to deal with fixing Zimbabwe whilst protecting it from every tom, dick and harry with an AK47 and a hard-on for power.

Ahh.... Decimus... coming to represent the racist northern-europe. And it is one of the most racist places in the world.

But yes Zimbabwes economy was held up by the white farmers and it was stupid of the blacks to take their land. Once Zimbabwe is stable it will become atractive for foreign companies... the whole of africa will because of extremely cheap labour and high unemployment. They would build factories there which would give people money. Stores would be opened, roads will be built. I see a brighter future for Rodesia once it becomes stable.

No I was saying the black were so angry at the white man and inexperienced in economy that they took their lands without thinking about the consequences. The outcome wouldn't be any different if it was the other way around.

the blacks are the down fall because the majority have little to no education and are the ones destroying these countries...

I'm not so sure africa will be able to attract major foreign manufacturing facilities; cheap labour is only part of the equation, you also need closeby markets to sell your products on; that's why there still is any manufacturing industry in developed nations

the unfortunate thing about africa is that they have been too slow to be an attractive alternative for investemnt compared to the bric nations - what you see atm is what little manufacturing industry africa has being outcompeted by cheap labour in these bric nations, with africa being pummeled into a pretty submissive role by the chinese

As long as you aren't saying they are the problem BECAUSE they are black, then what you are saying is true to a certain extent and I agree to the same extent.  This statement is most applicable to Zimbabwe where Mugabe has seized all white owned farms and given them to black people.  The whites were the ones with the money, tools and knowledge able to run these farms, whereas the blacks didn't have a clue, er go farming yields fell, less money was made and the economy was crippled over time until it got where it is today.

i was meaning the exact same thing. I was talking to some friends of mine the other day, one is from south africa and one is from Zimbabwe, that is the exact thing they said, the blacks attained the land (by either killing the farmer / from govt intervention, which had been owned by the white farmers and as a result didnt know what to do as they believed the blacks thoguht that the crops would grow by them selves. due to lack of education .

i try not to be racist as i have a number oh "black" friends but the "blacks" i was referring to are poorly educated but in no means reflect a black member of western society.

Well, atleast this way we still get cheap resources and we don't even have to support a world spanning empire.

interesting fact. history of mankind: other continents evolve, africa remains a shithole as long as its ruled by its original inhabitants.

trying to blame historial colonialism or modern colonialism for africa's problems is childish and downright incorrect. africa's problem is the original population inhabiting it. the continent is full of resources and remarkable territories. yet through a wicked game of luck the continent is inhabitated by the most destructibe vermin of the earth.

makes me laugh about zimbabwe, 28 years ago they threw off british rule and were known as the breadbasket of africa give them a native president fastforward to present day and they have inflation rates at 100,000% and one egg cost 6million dollars pmsl this may sound callous but frankly i dont care  im laughing at everyone of them starving in the streets.

Oh it does. You see they did "monetary redistributation". There are people throughout normal society, and Zimbabwe society who rather dont know crap about business, are lazy, or whatever the reason for them never succeeding. Yet all income redistribution assumes they are equal to Bill Gates, Paul Allen, Forbes, Trump, or even a Bradbury... for some examples... when truth is they never will be, never have been, and cannot be trained, schooled, or otherwise made into the abilities of those people.
