Re: Religious Video

Nowadays argument and evidence can be considered "offensive" if it happens to be counter to your beliefs.

Re: Religious Video

"this video is highly offensive to religious ppl!"

why should it be offensive?

though it is full of mistakes hmm
show me one orginal translatione were it says that horus was born by a virgin or crucified.. or that he was born on 25th...
read the book of the death.. really interesting.. but nothing about that in there.

and you also aware there were several different dates when Jesus should have been born? and i think it was around 350 after Christus some pope decided it is the 25 th bceause pagans were celebrating the winter solstice

Re: Religious Video

That's just a 10 minute clip of the whole documentary Zeitgeist. I remember watching it a while back and some how they try to link it with 9/11 (I think).

If you are interested go to movie6.net and scroll to the bottom and click on Zeitgeist to watch the whole thing.

Re: Religious Video

i think its interesting cuz it challenges the evidence of time.  every one who challenges the material will end up using the same arguement that will doom their own belief aswell.

if i was to say "nothing can prove the birthdates of such and such..."  on the basis of invalid evidence, i would also be questioning the validation of christ aswell. due to the fact that it was sooooooo long ago and their are more recent event that we cannot validate, its easy to say the all the video does is raise the questions of truth of the dates.

BTW, imo, i dont believe the "birthday system" was even use at that time, the culture was too primative to correctly document and verify the authenticity of birth other that the mother, however it was very rare for literate ppl back then.  just think, how many ppl in modern times have to look at a calender every once in a while just so they dont  miss a doctors appt!

Re: Religious Video

the guy is pretty funny. claims that he has a right to say offensive shit and then doesnt say any offensive shit other then the name calling he does at the beginning that he later bleeps out so it doesnt get flagged.

Re: Religious Video

lol, now that you mentioned it.

but, why whould it get flagged? you can look up george carlins religion skit and he is more offensive than this guy!

Re: Religious Video

well, the beginning does have alot of name-calling done to catholics. , take out the first min 30 secs of the video, and most likely it wouldnt have a problem.

Re: Religious Video

Here I thought it was because of copyright issues...

I found the video interesting, but I still found myself skeptical, even at the end.

Re: Religious Video

skeptical of what?

Re: Religious Video

Skeptical of the video itself.  The video only showed 10 minutes of the entire movie, and although it did show similarities between ancient figures, it never got to the reasoning behind the why 12 disciples, why 3 days for resurrection, and why the names such as "Lamb of God."  Furthermore, there's a distinct motivation behind the entire movie, but because I haven't seen the movie, I can only guess as to the overall aim.

Re: Religious Video

i jus got done watching the movie on movie6.net(thanx pirate) and i think its motivation is to expose the every governments lack of responsibility in providing truth to its people.

if you watch the movie, first, it highlights religion and provides room for thought of misinformation, then it moves on to 911, which allows people to relize that government(no matter how powerfull) will fail the masses of the people.  in the Last segment, i think the message is clear that money and wealth is the reasons why governments fabricate lies and myths to gain obedience of its people.

this is just my opinion, but i dont mind if you all pick it apart lol tongue

Re: Religious Video

"why whould it get flagged?"

Because SOME religious people are easily offended and flag anything that speaks against their religion.

Also it states it's criticism as fact as opposed to George Carlin who is a comedian so anything he says can be viewed as something just said to get laughs.

I've heard the Horus comparisson before none of the others though.  It does give one something to think about.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Re: Religious Video

"why whould it get flagged?"

im guessing it has something to do with

"Sorry if anyone here is Catholic (bleep) gotta be one of the must ludicrous (bleep) beleifs ever. Like these vampire priests sink their twin fangs of guilt and sin into you as a child and suck the joy of life out of you (bleep) for the rest of your existence"

i think i could understand some catholics being offended by that.

I think I'll have to watch the full thing...

Re: Religious Video

it is in interesting video.. especially if you watch the full one which is like 2 hours long. I guess its a good introduction when they say christianity is a myth representing the movement of the constillations.

but then the video gets really interesting...
It has good points but its the fault of us humans. Our desire to be in control and know things before they happen... the need to know and be able to control everything. The video just goes to show that it will get worse and worse and till we destroy each other...

Re: Religious Video

it's not worth pondering over much, it's very well known that christmas was rather chosen for its compatibility with pagan festivals than for any historical roots. it's not worth pondering over much because no informed christian cares about this, christmas not that important a date in christianity, easter is...

also I find it a bit cheap to link the "mary", "maya" and other chick's names to eachother, it's not impossible if you can prove this as a deliberate connection planted by greek writers (who had little to no knowledge of buddha mind you??) but if these names were actually based on hebrew, sanskrit and greek (for the latter one) then it's like those people seeing messages in random numbers since the first two obviously didn't use the greek alphabet

also the maker of the movie is clearly biased and bitter and is using "zomg maybe these are landing strips for ufo" type of constructs in order to hurt people, clearly the first part of this movie is simply vitriol with no artistic, humoristic or whatever value

They had a Calander, you can be sure of that. Yes they were distorted as time progressed because they couldn't calculate those 6 hours(and a little bit) in their system like we have now.

I think it was a pope that discovered that later on. He realized it when December was the first days of the summer time. So a correction was made. And I believe kelts used the lunar cycle.

EDIT: They could also have looked at the seasons. Although this would not work as good while you go deeper in afrika and the middle east.

An idiot could see that the sun is lower during winter and high during summer times. They might not have an exact date but they would have an approximation. They could use the season based time telling. But I think I'm saying the same things over and over again:p. I'm confused myself:p

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

Re: Religious Video

The full movie is very interesting.

They also connected moseses name with other people who gave out commandments in history. They also connected the egiptian religeon closely with judaism and christianity.

@sir supall

The 12 deciples are the 12 constelations or months. The 3 kings are the stars that line up with the brightest star in the sky on the one day in a year. 3 days of resurrection are december 22-24 when the sun is at it's lowest in the northeren hemisphere and on the 25th rises again. Easter is when the light beats the darkness and days become longer than nights
