For LQs to work you need TO's, if your working with pop for it to be worthwhile as an income you also need a good bit of pop - Meaning either a) your nw is gonna be over-inflated making you b) you dont get much pop and make just enough cash to cover upkeep; But at the cost of reduced res production, research being spread thin. -
If your SS'ing your better off sticking to res production and playing to the markets demands. You'll make more money and still be of use to your family
only works in virgo ![]()
Pop Attacking wardancer is the only way to go. Your major disadvantage is your inflated nw ,but thats the best way to do it still.
no thats an excellent strat a pop wardancer with res!!! brilliant
With such a short round, over inflated NW be a good thing to jump start your score... but who knows, i agree with skoe, too risky.
My own question is why research is of much use, research takes quite a while to build up, and with only 3 weeks of (hopefully) massive growth there isn't much way to get a ton of research points over your NW to make any good bonuses without killing your chance for income/resourcing.?
i've done the math at one time, but i can't seem to find my spreadsheet. if i remember right it works out to 40 lq, 20 to, the rest res buildings to give you the best income, you'll want to roll with alot of oc's to protect your pop, but with 50 pop growth it will recover quickly if you are ever opped. this is a proven strat never fail if you use it right!
50 pop isnt going to make that big a difference to the time taken for a pop to recover, it'll shave a handfull of ticks off - where was this strat proven? ![]()
wardancer have pop without to... useless imo. the speed/attack is good but i prefer a custom race.
I disagree - Wardancer are full of nothing but lose :s They were an alright resourcer race before research came in but now they're not good for much-
the additional attack bonus doesn't count for much as an attacker is always going to have enough fleet to get through defences, unless they're fightin way above their own NW in which case if they cant get through they're going to lose their portal imminently - I know that soldiers have come in now so the extra 20% might help some there but..Customs the way to go, as you said flash. can make that 20% through research if necessary, and can travel quicker.
Me wants new default race, tHe Juzahz with l33tz0t skillz which have a high probability of fail. -- The was said in jest but now that i think about it, thats what this game needs...an element of rolling the dice! an all out gamble kinda thing. hmm.
I will think on this and post in ideas ^_^
wardancer are actualy a good SS race
look in chaos this round.. lots of wardance
Wardancers are good if you're pure cf. After the fact, Wardancers make poor pop bankers. Partax make decent pop bankers and Quantam make decent pop bankers. I think that alot of people chose Wardancers because although they wanted a high attack option, they still needed cash. Wardancers provide that option because of their income bonus, attack bonus and even speed bonus.
they best choices for this round however would have been either a custom ss race, Quantam or Partax. Wardancers, although they provide certain advantages, have numerous faults. including but not limited to the high pop growth, which requires more food as you grow. As a pop banker, that's good, but cf/to it helps but hinders at the same time. mainly because you're spending space to build hf's in place of cf/s or to's, which throws off your percentages. The only counter is buying food but even then, you'd have to make sure you have enough each day. Camaar wouldn't make enough money to support a strong fleet, and rev's would end up attacking little given the attack bonus, although -30% attack never stopped me from attacking ![]()
I disagree Listos; I dont think a Quantam or Partax are going to prove the better option over a camaar for an SS round, especially in a hardcore gal. In a round where everybody is SS'ing i dont think any single typical infra layout is going to come out tops. If your sticking to CF/TO (as an example) your running the risk of your own growth coming to a halt any number of times when the people at the top of the food chain jump emselves for war and cause disturbances in the market, buying up all they can.
I think your better off going strictly with res production; Reason being - The best way for you to make a great income is through supply and demand on the market. Your ss'ing so you need to be active, otherwise theres little point in wasting your time. With res production your able to cover numerous resources so there will always be one res selling at a better then average price; and thats all you need, for one to be selling good - the rest you can hold onto and stockpile and start selling on again later on once activity in that market picks up again. Pointless dumping it on the market at lowered prices if nobodys buying, as you'll undoubtedly be out-bid and end up having to withdraw your res and slowly chip away at your stockpile through taxes.
Sorta lost track of my target there, just started talking and yeah ^^
I'm pointing out that for a banker going ss wardancers is a poor choice. Especially pop banking. If you are going to be wardancers, choose cf/to
Any ss player would instantly know not to put all your eggs in one basket, which is to say, build resource buildings along with the rest of your crap. 95% of them should also know if you're going ss, don't build TO's as much if you're not playing in a big family (IE 1 person families!).
as to races, Camaar will only provide the advantage of speed and attack, after that, it comes down to activity. If the banker has a strong defense, the Camaar has to have a very strong economy, very big stockpile of rez and a crapload of cash to jump fleet and maintain that fleet because you should know 1 person against another, morale becomes an issue, and retakes etc. Bankers are able to maintain a large fleet AND retake without losing too much money that would be used by Camaar for maintaining fleet. hell, the camaar would probably have to sell rez to have cash! A Camaar against a Quantam in a drawn out battle, the Quantam would win if they are ss banking mainly because they would have an advantage economy wise (most likely) and good research as well. Any ol ss player should also know to take full advantage of their ops as well.
Alliances are going to be intensely important in this round. It will be the key to victory an loss.
You fight a good argument - cant really argue with your statement there ![]()
Why do people think wardancers have to's ...
~ Cloud
personally, i don't use wardancers at all so I don't know what they have and dont beyond 60 attack, 80 speed and 50 pop
this round in sd i went wardancer ss thinkingg it was a good idea...i was wrong the income sucked the speed sucked and over all there was no possible way to catch a wardancer's infra up to a custom race with 50% income bonus
skoe is right wardancer is not good for ss and as far as quantum or partax i think both are a better option the wardancers ![]()
