Topic: CSS programing

ok, so im a complete noob at using the css, i have this one course where i have to design a simple website using an external style sheet.

Now my problem is that i made my website at home, and i have a pretty large monitor, but when i open the files at school, the layout is completely messed up, and it looks really bad. Im guessing its because the compute monitors are much smaller than mine at home

So question, is there anyway to fix the layout so it will look the same no matter where u open it? cuz i dont wanna hand in my website to the prof and it looks all fu*ked up

Dont use absolute values (pixels), try to use percentages.

Or maybe you can design it for the smaller screen, and ensure it looks ok
on the bigger one after that (E.g. just center it or something).

You can use variable width (percent width) but it tends to look bad. Design for a 800 x 600 monitor and either center the layout or align the layout to the left.

How is using percentages the same thing as using a variable width :S.

id assume because it changes depending on the size of the monitor tongue but even then its an iffy term to use in this scenario smile

using percentages is terrible considering the different resolutions and browsers that are being used tongue
But a fixed width is crappy too tongue
