Topic: "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin

If any of you want to know what an American Conservative .... for the most part .... is all about.

Read this book, ..... IF ... you care to educate yourself.

quote from Chapter one:   The Statist = the leftist/Socialist/Marxist

"... the Status has an insatiable appetite for control.  His sights are set on his next meal even befor he has fully digested his last.  He is constantly agitating for government action. ... the Statist speaks in the tongue of the demagogue, concocting one pretext and grievance after another to manipulate the public perceptions and build popular momentum for the divestiture of liberty and property  from its rightful possessors.  THE INDUSTRIOUS, EARNEST and SUCCESSFUL are DEMONIZED as PERPETRATORS of various offenses AGAINST THE PUBLIC GOOD, which justifies govt. intervention on behalf of an ENDLESS PARADE OF VICTIMS."

Well put.

PURCHASE THIS BOOK.

Re: "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin

Don't plan on reading it.  Levin annoys the crap out of me (this isn't right vs. left "annoy," so don't accuse me of being a leftist.  I listen to other conservative radio hosts and enjoy them, but he's just an ass).

Re: "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin

I like how BW makes broad sweeping assumptions about the "left" whiclst promoting a book which people can "educate" themselves about his so-called political position... maybe he needs to be educated? And that book sounds no better than the Communist Manifesto.

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but i am Jesus"
"Nothing is worse than a fully prepared fool"

Re: "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin

Seriously... is BW calling me a leftist?  tongue

Re: "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin

BW is completly idiotic so probably

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but i am Jesus"
"Nothing is worse than a fully prepared fool"

What i just wonder now is how a siciety would look where this is not the case.

BW what if all your employers suddenly want to do their own buisness instead of working for you?
What if every employed person starts their own buisness tomorrow?
collaps?

You are so narrow minded BW.
Only because for u its the most important thing in your life to achieve something in your job you can not blame people who do not think so.
you are being the real elitist here.. again.

U allways only connect success or achievments with JOBS and money.. that is somewhat sad.

I feel I achieved something when i had a good day with my friends.
I feel I achieved something when i did some work in my garden and it looks really lovely now.
I feel I achieved something if I invite a lovely girl for dinner and she cant stop eating:)

So if u can only achieve personal happines with money in your work.. fine.. you are a very sad being.

Re: "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin

Well it is true that conservatives value individualism, hard work, a free market, meritocracy, and monetary accomplishment. And to be frank, I agree with those values. In an almost Nietzsche-like way, I think that the values of compassion and social welfare so common to left-wingers are for the weak and inferior. Yes, I believe that. Also, I am in favor of eliminating suffrage for people who earn less than $70,000 a year to prevent those scum from electing officials to cater to their interests. To paraphrase a founding father, things get messed up when the common people realize they can vote to touch the treasury.

Re: "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin

Is anyone talkign about welfare?

BW is claiming that everyone who is an employed person is having no ambitions in his life.

You can work hard as employed person too.

So fine.. if U define a happy life by only success in job also.. fine.. u have a sad life too then.

if people below 70k cant vote u dont need elections anymore anyways.

and btw.. i found this comment of YOU Justinian:

"$30,000 is working class income, lol. Middle class is around $50,000. What's funny is that my parents have their house paid for and complain that they can't live off their $46,000 from part time work/SSI."

Go start telling your parents that you think they are too poor to vote!

Re: "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin

Schniep,

lol. Obviously I have different standards for retired couples. I just want adequate means to prevent demagogues from being elected, like Obama. If you check the 2008 elections, you'll notice that if you omitted the working class and poor vote, McCain would have won by probably a large margin.

Re: "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin

its just a brainless idea.. i hope you do realize that yourself.

What about students? can they vote? even if we dont know if they will be unworthy and earn less then 70k later on?
What about handycaped people?
What about retired people who did not earn more then 70k?
What about teachers who from my understanding get like 30-50k?

Working class simply is a huge part of society.. Obama was elected by the majority of people.. and not only working class.. also some elites.
At least i saw many people here complaining about so called elites supporting Obama.

Nope. Besides most Western countries started out with limited suffrage anyway, and as we can see things got messed up when there was universal suffrage.
