Topic: Acoustic tabs

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could suggest some easy acoustic songs to play? If you can give me a site for the tabs then that'll be great!

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

yeah www.ultimate-guitar.com ftw  tongue

Your = possessive. As in, "your grammar sucks."
You're = you are. As in, "you're an idiot for not knowing the difference."

Great song Pixies!

Re: Acoustic tabs

A nice easy and awesome song is Void by Red House Painters

Also if you want to impress a sheila, try I Love How You Love Me by Phil Spector. The Neutral Milk Hotel cover of that song is awesome.

Re: Acoustic tabs

Dirty Old town, by the pogues

Sol chord, listen to the rhythm, and you can copy that
then there's a Do chord,
then back to the Sol
and the 'Dirty old town' is on an LAminor, and then moves on to Mi

G G C G Am E wink you can find it yourself prety easily to, google it where you find one with the lyrics and you can sing on your own whilst playing. Easier it can't be.

Also 'In this river' by black label society is easy, just take the piano chords, and play them on a fitting rhytm, you're pretty free on how u wanna play it, u can change it and make your own cover versions, fun assured wink it's Em C G D loop, and another part G Am wink
And the solo guitar is easy aswell, but I'd play that only on top of the acoustic, and you just asked acoustic so that's just fine.

Re: Acoustic tabs

And sitting Duck, you know nothing bout tabs, they just make the reading of music easier, furthermore they're just the same as real music, if it's tabbed right and fully that is, perhaps with the real music on top as you got in guitar pro, it makes you have to learn less in order to be able to start playing. And nowadays music, especially guitar can be complicated enough without having to learn how to read sheet music, with tabs you still have to learn theory (which can be learnt more or less in tab style, you learn the note names and sclaes on your guitar, but don't have to be able to read music as how mozart wrote it)  And tabs are a good intro to start, cause any musician whom keeps playing though having started tabs will laern how to read normal sheet music once in his lifetime, and it's nothing more special really.

Re: Acoustic tabs

Well I haven't played guitar for a long time because I'm pretty lazy but I took it up when I was about 12 and had was learning all the way through high school. The problem with tabs is that they are usuall badly or ambiguously written so that most of the time you have to sit listening to the actual song too in order to work out wtf is going on. Sheet music really isn't very hard to read, especially if you start by using it straight away but it gives you useful information like when to play the notes tongue. I would challenge anyone to play a piece they had not heard before from sight from a tab of the usual standard found online, whereas a decent musician should be able to do just that to a piece of sheet music.

Re: Acoustic tabs

hmja, that's good for when there wasn't a recorder out there yet, or if we'd lose such technology or an existing song in wav./etc file.

and being able to do that just from a sheet of music, gets easy once you fully understand the system, but the problem I have is that I can't do it like immediatly, by just looking at it for the first time and playing it at the right tempo, I need to study it first, perhaps tab it or learn it by heart. But the guitar pro tabs you got I think are quiet complete, and you got the normal sheet music above it aswell.

Anyways, It's nice/good to be able to read from a piece of sheet music, but I def. wouldn't say Tabs are sin, it is rock and roll afterall lol.  And another thing which is nice to is to be able to play music by just hearing the song and not seeing the tabs, which I can do for some songs, although not immediatly unless really simple, and I might do that for complexer solo stuff songs but then I'd have to pause and hear and try note by note lol. And often I play the singing notes instead, which I did when i started guitar, I just played single notes of the song chorus etc, helped me to know where each sound is on the guitar and to set my fingers, couldn't do chords, even simple open chords, when I started, but then one day I could do them easily switching over from one to another.

Re: Acoustic tabs

I know what chord the E7sus4 is, but it's a complicated one to start with

dunno if I can find you a pic, prolly works just googling images, but otherwise I can give you the positions.

somehow I don't like sigur ross though tongue or at least not that much.

^^ it even explains it, that you can derrive it part by part, if you know what E is, then the 7th etc
but some chords are only used in certain genres of music, so depending what style you play this one may be verry important or useless or just interesting, hence why many don't know it.
