Re: Space: The Third Story.

Kyle Gibson had spent the last 3 years putting together the top team the Talus could scrape up to begin exploration and terra-forming efforts for the joint Talus-UEF Expedition. A colabrative effort the post Kallum alliance council had put into works prior to the alliance basically going defunct. Despite outward political trends of late, the scientific communities were richly immersed in the sharing of knowledge.

The first spaces planned were in boundry regions and out rim arms of the galaxy. They were choose due to first, having a sizeable unexplored section of many older stars, and second, according to the top recruit from the Academy, Charles Vialent, the most likely capable of having long life stars with stable bodies in planetary habitable zones. Perfect for new mining and farming worlds, and new sources of resources the expedition would need.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

A shuttle at long last...

Jeodan floated, and upon seeing the approaching vessel, gave a last heroic effort to muster a welcome "It's about time", but the humor was lost to him as his water supply had run out some time ago and the parched mouth aided little with the pronounciation of anything beyond a rasp.

His last glimpse of of a shuttle of blue white glowing seems surrounding a dark pale blue skin. It over took his position and centered a cargo bay over where he floated. He'd ever seen something so beautiful in his life. Of course at this stage, a 200 year old mule-class excavator would have looked like Eden to this damn suit he'd be wearing. Of course, this damn suit saved his life. These are things a man's mind thinks about in these moment.

Moments later Jeodan fell unconscious. He's internal desire to live maintaining his sanity, and thus his life, gave out of the desire to repair itself, dream and sleep. He was saved, his unconscious knew it.

What seemed like an eternal's nights rest, Jeodan awoke. Finding himself as he would have expected, in a medical ward, he was relieved. The frostbite he knew his toes had did not bother him. This he was very happy with. The throbbing had been like a drum in his head. It has been meloncoli enough he had to fight it off to avoid falling asleep. Sleep that would have been his doom. He was glad the thobbing was gone.

He reached his feet up over his knee, and reached down to rub those damn toes, they didn't throb anymore, but there was quite at itch.

He's just gotten into a good routine of chasing the itch around his foot, and finally back to where it started when it finally gave in and subsided. Jeodan thought to himself. Glad to get that itch, nothing like a good scratch every once in a while.

Up until this time, the lights in the room had been dim. The slightly raised in brightness. A few candle power. Perhaps 5 or 10 candles. The room was dark still at its edges, as the light was low enough to basically illuminate the bed, and table to either side. He made out that his uniform was now cleaned, and pressed. This was strange to Jeodan, as it certainly not with him before. There was a brighter light over the uniform. It seemed appropriate to put it on. Why would it have been there if it hadn't.

Rousing himself from his bed, he put his two feet down. Tingling feel crept up from his toes. As if they had been experiencing this feeling for the first time. Must have been the frost bite. And damn, that itch is back. Taking a minute, Jeodan assulted the itch with the tancity of a reaver. Hopefully that was gone for good now. Dawning the uniform, felt particularly good. Again with the tingle, but there was relief.. no itch. This made him glad.

He took a moment to survey now the domain beyond the light. No walls were visable. Strange, he tought.. what am I, in a warehouse? I feel like a fish in an aquarium.

It was about this precise moment that a gentle soothing and female voice came from above. "Jeodan, how do you feel?"

"Tingley?" he said after a brief moment of reflection on the question.

"That will fade, Jeodan. Your toes and outter extremities were frozen solid when we came to your aid." There was something about that statement that Jeodan didn't quite feel was right. Something in his gut told him there was more to that statement that was was revealed to him.

"and ?"

"They were renewed." the voice spoke.

"Thank you?" there was some doubt to the sincerity of the thanks, but some apprehension due to that gut feeling he had still.

Jeodan turned and leaned up against the bed, taking a bit of a load off his feet, which by now no longer itched, nor did they tingle. That was comforting. At least she was right about that. Still, the gut feeling didn't quite go away. He just played it off to the 'fish bowl' feeling he had. It was a little strange to him that he'd never seen quite a facility as the one he was in at this time.

"So.." Jeodan said. "What's the prognosis, Doc?" and saying again with the humor, " Am I gonna make it?"

There was a pause. The voice sounded cold. "Perhaps."

Jeodan thought to himself, damn.. there is that gut feeling again.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

Jeodan felt a strange sensation in his chest. Something he had not felt in two years now. A heart, pumping blood. Opon closer inspection of his one arm and foot he saw they were aswell now organic.

"So what now?" Jeodan said as he sensed around but found no clear lock on any minds. He was somewhere he had not been before in an unknown ship. He could feel no further then the light.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

"Jeodan" the voice spoke again.

At that moment, Jeodan had the clarity to understand the walls he saw were merely in his mind. How was it a mind such as his could be so easily confined. Controlled. Damn. 'What kind of a mess am I in now?' he thought to himself.

Jeodan braced for a reply. Were they reading his thought, or simply just implanting this reality in his mind.

No response. Ok, so they are not reading my mind.. or maybe they just don't react to my subconscious.. or damn. 'I'm being paranoid'. Damn, he thought again.

All around the Crbrs four hundred kalikam an hour winds screamed, a continuous icy blast of raw hydrogen and argon, but Erf felt good. While they were waiting for word from the UEF Commader Krg had decided to take the ship from Blacken to the local gas giant and into the atmosphere so they could benefit from the high gravity, much better than walking around in armor all of the time.
Exposure to the low gravity of Blacken had only lowered his bone density by a few percent, but it was enough for him to take to the exercise chamber.
Around the perimiter of the chamber a group of heavy weapons specialists were running laps whilst carrying weight bars, ahead of them were a few scouts wearing thick iron bracelets around their wrists and ankles. Far above a group of infiltrators were leaping, tumbling and climbing around the support beams. Krg was up there somewhere.
Although everyone on the ship was a warrior first everyone was also a specialist. Krg was an infiltration specialist, strong, agile and silent despite his Wardancer bulk. Erf was a boarding specialist. Erf entered the airlock to the vacuum chamber carrying a onehundred kalimet weightbar.

Jeodan watched the bluish light of the Dreamweavers ship move off into high orbit and rendezvous with a much larger capital class vessel. The size and spectacle of this vessel was even more stunning than what was in the vision. He recognized it as one of the Inquisitor class vessels.

After moments, the large vessel nimbly reoriented itself and within but a breath flashed from view. He watched the location in space for a few minutes. 'Wow, that was spectacular!', he thought of the vessel and it's departure he just saw.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

"Are you watching this?" Carl asked Garrus over the line.

"No, should I be?" Garrus asked as he munched on a pear.

"I would think so, it has a lot to do with your friend Septimus." Carl answered as he watched the Talus press conference about the weapon released during an attack on a Kallum outpost.

"It is true, the Imperial Talus Navy did release biological weapons during the assault three days ago. It is also true that this biological weapon was released over the main outpost, how ever, all of our investigating teams have reported no Kallum civilians were present." Admiral Septimus spoke slowly into the microphone.

"Good God." Garrus said lowly over the phone, "They actually deployed Acid Rain?"

"What is Acid Rain?" Carl asked, turning down the volume of the television.

"Its a Bio-Toxin. It starts out as a gel, held in three capsules inside of a missile. When they detonate the missile, or it impacts, a series of small explosions occurs, which open a trio of vents on the sides of the missile as well as opens the tip of the missile. After the explosions open the airways, the capsules open and when the gel mixes with air it becomes a gas. It feeds off of oxygen and spreads quickly, but loses potency the farther it spreads. It eats up all the oxygen around it, which can kill most enemies, but due to the fact that oxygen masks are easy to produce, we took it a step farther." Garrus explained then paused to bit the pear.

"And that step is?" Carl asked, almost not wanting to hear the whole thing.

"It is designed to cause fatal damage upon entering a body. It hunts down oxygen inside the body and, in the process, it ravages organs, tissue, veins, you name it. If there is oxygen inside that body, the toxin will eat its way to it, which will destroy the body. It targets areas with the most oxygen first, such as the heart, brain, lungs and veins. Next come muscles and then basic tissue, but you wouldn't live long enough to experience that. If it got inside through the nose or mouth of, lets say a human; you'd be dead in less then thirty seconds. If it entered through a wound or pores in the skin, you might have a minute or two, depending on how much gets in." Garrus said.

"Jesus Christ..." Carl was shocked and nearly dropped the phone, "So they 'deployed' that on Kallum forces?"

"If they did then the units from the Umbrella Division, Special Forces Division, would have very little do afterwards, except cleaning up the bodies." Garrus replied and finished the pear, "How do you think the Alliance will take this?"

"If they understand what this does, I would guess not well." Carl answered and stared at the television, trying not to imagine the horrors of having 'Acid Rain' deployed against some one.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

Carl watched the press conference for a little while longer, then shut off the video feed. The 'Acid Rain' bioweapon the Talus had deployed was certainly bound to spark significant controversy; with the tension already building between Blacken and the Talus Empire, it could lead to all-out war.

Carl closed his eyes, the skirmish between Commodore Baker's three ships playing in his head.

Suddenly, it hit him. There was no other plausible explanation. Only one man could fit all of the patterns that had revealed themselves.

"Well, I never thought you'd show up again, Admiral Morna," Carl whispered.

He opened his eyes. Protocol, of course, had to be followed. He sent a directive to Commodore Baker, ordering him to report in for questioning.

When the Commodore failed to reply, Carl revoked the Commodore's citizenship with a few keystrokes for obstruction of justice, then flagged the UES Anvil, the Commodore's last surviving ship, as rogue, giving any Alliance ship in the vicinity a free opportunity for target practice without fear of reprisal.

"Let's see how you get out of this one," Carl said quietly.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

"How the hell did they know I got off the Loki?" Morna shouted at Captain Luchessi.

"The only way would have been for the shuttle's ID code to be seen entering the ship... Dicola was supposed to take care of that..." Luchessi said and turned to the Lieutenant.

"But, wait! I did what you sa-" Dicola's body fell backwards as a bullet blew through his forehead. Morna turned to Captain Luchessi and continued.

"They have us as rogues, plus the real Lance Baker has been dead for about a month now, which means they know who I am... We must move quickly if we are to survive, no doubt several ships are heading for us and the Anvil is far to small to be of any use... If we must fight, it would be best to stay away from the Talus, they have more reason to want us dead."

"But, Sir, how do we plan to escape? The Anvil is damaged from the nuke, even at full power we wouldn't be able to out-run the UEF and Talus ships that are coming after us!" Luchessi said.

"How many do they have after us right now?" Morna inquired and walked over to teh terminal.

"The entire Talus battle group and around a dozen assorted UEF and Blacken ships. ETA of the nearest ship, a cruiser, is four minutes. Though we may be able to lose them deeper in the asteroid field."

"Deper in the asteroid field? Oh, sure, we'd lose them... only because we'd be dead!" Morna shouted and rubbed his eyes, thinking hard. Suddenly an alarm went off and the ship began to rumble, "What the hell? Not even a cruiser has enough range to negate that distance!" They ran out of the room and sprinted to the bridge as the Anvil rumbled and shook.

Upon entering the bridge they looked at the main screen and saw the Reaper less then two kilometers away from the port side of the Anvil.

"Good evening, Admiral Morna, I am here to offer you some 'Ivy League hospitality' from the Talus Empire..." Within milliseconds of Garrus saying 'Empire', the Reaper opened fire with its full broadside and the Anvil ceased to exist. "Send a message to Blacken Colonial Command and let them know that Morna is dead... Carl believed he was quite clever, I'm surprised he forgot about a slip space jump."

Re: Space: The Third Story.

Ward walked about after he had finished dropping off the body and saw a giant screen lit up against one of the great buildings. A news broadcast. Ward stopped to look at it.

Cy'Tan building techniques were quite impressive to the other Alliance members. These buildings were elliptical or cone shaped and most were over five kilometer in length, buildings were colored black or weight, a perfect balance was kept at all times. And a orange light emanated from most windows. The industry was located directly underground, huge smelters and mining platforms. Most sites could be up to ten kilometers deep. But they were not afraid to go deeper. Any metal or anything else not used to make things for the planet were send above to one of the Cy'Tan or UEF space platforms. The smoke from these massive underground faciletes goes up in huge shafts to the surface. They run through the surface structures giving off extra heat.

Ward looked at the bulletins an UEF journalist reported, he had heard everything before but not yet seen. Several scientists reported on the events but those of the ships exploding were not reported on.
As Ward spoke Cy'Tan ships had jumped into orbit and were clearing all the debris. Performing rescue operations where possible. But still huge chunks of debris headed towards the planet but the City-shields the Cy'Tan had made for themselves and for all other cities held. Although some injuries were reported as a direct result of the debris no one was as of yet seriously hurt. Almost everyone in danger had already been evacuated to safer places.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

Carl received an after-action report from the Reaper and scanned it over. The Anvil had been annihilated; there were no survivors. No casualties had been sustained by the Reaper.

The UEF Communications Service, a subdivision of the UEF Administrative Service, was working with Blacken Command to create a press release detailing the situation, though they had warned Command beforehand that "the Blacken citizens might find the news hard to swallow". Carl sighed. Xenophobia seemed to be a trait of humanity that they had never been able to shake off. Maybe a thousand years of war might do it, but the citizens of Blacken had not lived through that as the UEF had.

The UEF's predecessors, the Earth Empire, were guilty of their fair share of xenophobia, too. In 2557, just short of seven hundred years before the United Earth Federation was formally established, during a colonization expedition to Seraphim II, the expedition commander had met the native Seraphim with violence. It was a supreme example of how xenophobia never paid off; the resulting conflict resulted in the creation of the Aeon Illuminate and would, over a thousand years later, threaten to engineer the near-defeat of the UEF.

This lesson was deeply ingrained within Carl's mind by now, and General Stephen Clarke, along with the other UEF top brass, had seen the light with their own eyes. However, as for the Blacken population, there was still significant mistrust between them and the Cy'tan, owing to apparently irreconciliable sociological and cultural differences, and what gains the Talus had provided were mainly military and diplomatic in nature - their influence was difficult to feel on the Blacken surface from a resident's point of view.

Because of Blacken's people, the Alliance stood on a shaky foundation. Blacken Command's greatest nightmare was that the people of Blacken would stage a full-scale revolt against the military command structure and splinter off into a rogue faction - the means to do so were scattered around the city, safeguarded only by some UEF security programs that any seasoned hacker would be able to overthrow - all it would take would be a UEF commander to defect and provide, if not the necessary command codes, the required technical expertise, before such a resistance movement would have an instant army at their fingertips.

The UEF's military, of course, could steamroll the entire city if such a crisis happened, but a move like that would be diplomatic suicide - it could provoke the Aeon, the Cybrans, or both to pull out of the Alliance agreement and reignite the Infinite War.

Carl sighed. It was an unstable situation. He hoped that the situation would be localized to Blacken. Perhaps the citizens of the other Core Worlds, also under the arm of the Blacken Colonial Command, would take the news more favorably, having had more benign exposure to Talus culture.

But then again, he reflected, finishing off his tea, it was perhaps wise not to hope for too much, given the recent occurrences among what Carl had considered a tolerant population. Perhaps it was time to re-evaluate his opinion of the Blacken populace.

That could wait for later, Carl decided, keeping an eye on the network feed.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

It was late at night, and Carl was in the office, considering the ramifications of the broadcast the Scion Expeditionary Force had sent to the civilian network. Many of the civilians, too, because of this broadcast, were beginning to see the light, to understand what could be accomplished by cooperation. Sadly, there were always the hardliners, people who had become so deeply embedded in their xenophobic beliefs that they would defend them to the death.

It had been a wise idea to initiate the lockdown, he reflected, looking out the window at the city below. No civilian vehicles were allowed on the streets; only approved citizens were allowed to work. He saw columns of tanks, escorted by assault bots and drones, patrol the streets of the settlement, and watched as squadrons of gunships hovered menacingly through the residential sectors. Under the watch of the UEF Military Service, no resistance movement was going to manifest itself - not today.

He heard the door chime sound. "Come in," he called, turning around.

The door opened, and a familiar figure stepped in, clothed in pure-white armor that seemed to glow. "Hail, Brother," he said, raising his hand in greeting.

During one of Carl's early forays into travel within the Multiverse, he had come upon the world of Rubi-Ka, the source of all notum, and established a name for himself on the planet. As an honored Knight of Lord Galahad's court, and later as commander of the Newland Militia, he had assumed the role of an order-keeper. With the role, he had been assigned command of a group of six other knights; together, they made a Table, assigned to a specific operating region on Rubi-Ka, and later in the Blacken sector. His Table functioned as advisors, guiding him through difficult situations and alerting him to danger, but most of this activity happened in dreams; it had been some years since he had last seen one of his knights in person.

He acknowledged the greeting. "Hail. What news?"

The knight replied, "The lull is over. The Kyrozch are on the move. You must rescue the Grimnar from your Kallum enemies, or all is lost."

"How will the Grimnar save us?" Carl asked.

"The Grimnar alone knows the secret story of the Kyrozch," the knight replied. "The Grimnar alone has the potential to fulfill The Prophecy. The Grimnar must be brought before Lord Galahad. Only when the Grimnar is knighted will the Kyrozch know fear."

"What of the other Tables?" Carl asked.

"We are here," a hundred voices replied, from a hundred knights that appeared all around him from nowhere. Suddenly, the office was gone, and Carl was standing in the Sanctuary again, clad in full armor. "We are the other Tables. We will help you."

He heard a voice behind him, a female voice, and turned around to see a blonde-haired lady in a flowing white dress. "Our pull on your plane is limited, so we cannot send people to your aid. We will grant you this, however." She raised her hands to the sky, and light appeared between them. "Knowledge."

The light grew to encompass Carl's entire field of vision, and he was suddenly back in the office. The knights were gone. Their purpose, however, remained, brighter and clearer than ever.

He immediately contacted James, who answered. "What is it, Carl?"

"The strike needs to proceed immediately, with or without the others. The Kyrozch are coming, and we need to get Robert Grimnar back home. He's the only one who can deal with them."

"Right away," James responded. He paused for a moment. "Is there something else?"

"Add me to your strike team. I know what needs to be done."

Re: Space: The Third Story.

"You know what?" Garrus asked.

"What?" Darcon replied slowly.

"We really should put more funding into the Alliance Research Department, they managed to ease the situation a bit with this Scion Expeditionary Force." Garrus said, as they wanted the broadcast.

"I thought you were one of the people who wanted us to with draw from the Alliance Research Department and keep the scientists for ourselves." Darcon said amused.

"I was, hell I still am, but as long as we're there we might as well make it count for something. Even if we could be using the scientists to come up with cures for some of the disease the other members of the Alliance have given us, at least our people are getting the job done." Garrus said and stretched his arms. Suddenly his terminal beeped loudly and a light flashed on and off. Garrus quickly rose and pushed a button, "What is it?"

"Sir! We have a top priority message from High Command! Sending it to you right now." The Captain said briskly and tapped several buttons, sending the message to Garrus's terminal.

"What the..." Garrus's face turned pale and he looked up at the Captain, "Do you know what this means? Get us out of here immediately! Broadcast scramble warning to everyone we can, send a copy of this to what members of the Alliance we can, but top priority to get us to the Kalnoky System."

"Understood, preparing for Slip space jump." The Captain replied and Garrus ended the conversation. Darcon stood up, confused.

"Stay here, I'll be on the bridge. Send a message to Septimus and order him to put Nordok into lockdown, also attempt to raise General Raxian if possible." Garrus growled and hastily got his uniform on. He jogged to the bridge and looked at the ETA to the Kalnoky System; twenty-five minutes.

Half an hour later they entered the Kalnoky System and he received a message from the Vice Admiral in command here.

"Sir? Thank God you've arrived, we've been getting reports from Locus of heavy casualties and fighting all over the place. The Emperor is safe and in Omega Base for the time being. What are your orders?"

"Stay calm, Admiral. I take it the full Admiral has gone to Locus?" The officer nodded, "Alright. Stay here and defend the Emperor until the last. Give me a battle cruiser squadron and its attached units, afterwards I will be leaving to go to Locus." The officer nodded again and he saw the units joining his battle group. Garrus sighed as they prepared for a second slip space jump.

Wreckage of the initial clash were scattered around the planet. The orbital defenses were drifting into the atmosphere, a few of them burning up in free-fall. A few dozen Kallum ships held a tight orbit, firing onto the planet and dispatching shuttles of soldiers to the surface. One side of Locus's moon was scarred, the moon bases must have been wiped out as well, Garrus thought.

"Commander, how many of our ships are equipped with Acid Rain Missiles?" He asked the Weapons Officer as the battle group headed towards the planet, the Kallum forces turning to face them.

"About eighty-five percent of the battle group has Acid Rain Missiles, Kallum ships entering firing range in two minutes." Garrus watched the ships come closer for a long two minutes. After what felt like two years, Garrus raised his hand to stifle the Commander.

"Make sure my Officers understand that there will be no quarter given, period." The Officer simply nodded, having served under Garrus for several years, "Reduce them to hulks." With those four words, the Talus ships opened fire; the Kallum ships bucked under the heavy fire and returned with their own shots. With gaping wounds in most of the capital ships, a series of missiles impacted on these exposed areas directly after the initial damage was done. Within seconds of them impacting, the ship's ventilation systems spread large amounts of Acid Rain toxin, killing everything onboard.

The holo-vid showed the display of battle above Locus Prime, as it was designated by the Overseers. The arrival of more defensive forces meant the Kallum forces would now have to withdraw from battle, the balance of the battle was turned now in the defenders favor.

Though this battle had been like the many hundred before it viewed by the Overseers, but the attack of those missiles and there effects were unexpected. Armor piercing weapons to exact death to the crew, but leaving minimal damage to the ships were obvious interest. The warhead of that missle however, was what was of interest now.

What a profound opportunity this was!

"Rewind" announced Nai, the battle then slowly began to slow, then the holo-vid began showing the battle reversed in time. "Slowly," and after the progression of the battle ceased, it then began to reverse itself. "There, retreive the warhead from that one.

"Sir, we have driven the few survivors of the Kallum fleet out of the system."

"Very good, Captain. Commander, give me firing solutions on the Kallum positions on Locus Prime." Garrus said and used his console to make a few adjustments to his ships before the Commander responded.

"Sir, firing solutions engaged, we have the entire Kallum ground force within range."

"Good, Captain, send a message to General Raxian to begin a ground assault. Commander, you may fire when ready." Garrus nodded and the Commander at the Weapons Control console began to move a joystick and push multiple buttons, Graser cannons and missile batteries responded instantly, raining death upon whatever Kallum had been targeted. Talus forces moved in against Kallum forwards positions, accurate Graser fire taking out key defensive positions and Acid Rain Missiles doing the rest, new gas maks and emergency counter-agents had been created for the Talus Military shortly after Acid Rain had been perfected.

An hour later, General Raxian, Darcon and Garrus were sitting in his quarters and talking, Garrus and Darcon drinking Sigwa juice while Raxian smoked a large cigar, a new habit of his. Then an Officer walked in with a report for Garrus.

"Thank you." Garrus saluted the soldier, read the report and grabbed a cigar from the wooden box. Raxian handed him a lighter and asked a question.

"So, what in that report made you start smoking?"

"No, read this." Garrus handed him the report, Raxian read it, groaned and then passed it to Darcon.

"Do you have to blow so much smoke in here, Uncle? Or at least turn up the ventilators!" He said and waved his arm around to clear the smoke. He read the report and looked up and noticed Garrus smoking as well, "So wait, this is healthy now? I thought you hated smoking more then I do?"

"I could get used to it." Garrus said with a grin and blew a smoke ring into Darcon's face.

"You better get onto that right away, it is your area of expertise." General Raxian commented. Darcon left for the bridge, leaving Garrus and Raxian to smoke in his quarters.

Jeodan sat aimlessly in the shuttle when a small boy pulled on his suit, Jeodan gave the little kid a look just as his mother pulled him away. To protect him as it were. He had not noticed the family before. A small girl a kid and the mother now sitting in one corner as far as him as possible.

Jeodan sighed. No way he could convince all humans to accept them. But she did seem worthy. Jeodan could sense she had been through very troubling times. He shared whit her the visions and gave her a treat of how Cy'Tans lived, how they talked understood, felt. 'All is shared, all is known.' Those were the last words she heard when Jeodan cut the mental link between them. She fell over on the ground, almost crushing the little girl that had her hands clamped against her mothers shins. The woman breathed heavily and was sweating like a pig as she lay there. Jeodan stepped towards her but was blocked by the little boy. He hit and kicked against a warrior

Re: Space: The Third Story.

Logan called Carl and James and told them of his intent to go to rescue Robert right away. He was met with the same urgency through Carl. They boarded the Terranova, after Logan ordered his crew to step down, and his family to meet at the Terranova.

The ship lifted off, and minutes later they entered the split space-hyper jump realm.

Then I lived.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

Finally Jeodan's fleet had arrived and they brought with them 2000 extra Cy'Tan ships of the highest excellence and technology. 10 UEF battleships 400 destroyers 300 cruisers. And a small fleet of corvettes and fighters. Immediately the small shuttle he was on speeded towards the biggest Kedelbe.

There were two main designs in Kedelbe. V1 and V2 to Cy'Tan but Fury and Blaze to humans. Fury class ships were like UEF battleships, they had many guns, heavy shields, and their hull was made by special Cy'Tan organic amour. Blaze class were something totally different. They are the ultimate killers of ships. Anything big enough to get a decent lock on. The Blaze class ships only had a handful of weaponry. But they did have generators that were able to generate huge amounts of energy. Energy that could flow to shields or to their two massive guns, these guns were as large as the ship itself so it looked much like a pencil. But with wings. One of the guns shot a huge ionized ball and the other a plasma ball. Blue and red were their colors. Although they were powerful, small ships could easily dodge them as their speed was not one of their powerful sides.

Finally arriving in the bay of a class V3 Kedelbe Jeodan could feel the talks of his brothers much clearer now, calls that were distant only seconds ago. When he stepped outside Jeodan was immediately greeted as they do in their culture. Pains were shared for a millisecond as not to distract each of them from their mission. Better introductions had to be made after this battle. As Jeodan walked towards the nearest lift that would bring him to central command he took one look back to the shuttle that was now departing and hoped the woman could deliver the message.

The final stretch of the way he ran. But as he ran through the black bluish corridors he made sure one of his hands touched the ship at all times, as to familiarize himself with the ship. Upon arriving in the central command room he immediately headed towards the command chair. The moment Jeodan sat down his mind was rushed with information and Jeodan clutched the chair for a second before letting go of his grip. He commanded 7000 of his own men and countless UEF men.

He saw the planet very clearly; it was filled to the brim with foundries that spew toxic gasses into the atmosphere, almost clouding all sight into the planet. Its orbital defenses were quite impressive. They ran in seven axes through the planets core. They were perfectly aligned so there would always be two turrets shooting at you at all times. The kid has done a good job. Jeodan thought. But he had not accounted in the blaze class Kedelbe. He ordered them into line formation. And once ready they shot out their balls of fury towards the planet. A lock on from this range would be impossible. But Jeodan was sure they would hit either the defences or the 15000 ships that were advancing towards him right now. Long range sensors showed another 8000 were heading their way. In perfect unison the ships fired. First all blue balls left, then reds, blues again, reds again. 600 in each wave. An awesome sight to behold. The orbital defenses glowed red and blue right before they exploded. Hundreds of ships that stood in orbital shipyards were decimated. And the Kallum main defense platform got hundreds of hit before it faltered and broke up in pieces.

'A good start.'
'Jeodan took a look at the large Kallum fleet. But soon realized they were not the only ships. Small pockets of ships  hid behind moons and rocks. The sensors of the V3 ships could see the minute particles ships left behind. Jeodan gave the order to the all UEF ships to seek and destroy these pockets.

The Kallum had formed a massive wall of ships that headed straight toward the Cy'Tan fleet that was now regrouping into a huge bubble. The Blaze ships in the center with the V3. Fury ships, Frigates, which were equipped with 8 mass driver guns that could bypass shields. Corvettes that could spit out thousands of small beams that could cut through fighters were all set up at the edges of the bubble, their guns facing outwards. Many Cy'Tan fighters and bomber headed out of range of the Kallum fleet and lay waiting.

The Cy'Tan bubble spinned horizontally and vertically, both axes varied in strength.

Jeodan looked at the enemy through 4 lines of ships and could feel their distress. Chunks of Kallum ships broke off and formed parties. Still the main line headed towards the bubble. Stopping right within their range. They took up a round shape around the Cy'Tan bubble. Still within range.

'Close enough' Jeodan thought and activated the shields. The V3 and blaze ships shields sprung to life and extended their shield to those on the outer edge of the bubble. Forming a massive blue like bubble. Jeodan sensed the Kallum were distracted and some ships opened fire. But the bubble was unharmed. Jeodan had now full control over the bubble. All ships had become one entity and Jeodan flew them at the Kallum line at great speeds. The ships opened fire and volleys of red, green, blue, and yellow colored beams and dots riddled the sky. Blasting away at Kallum ships. The Kallum ships had now opened full fire on the bubble but could not dent it. Jeodan had such confidence in it that he smashed the bubble into the Kallum line devastating dozens of ships.

The Frigates opened a hail of particles emanating from their mass drivers pounding away at Kallum destroyers and Battleships.

Then Jeodan had a crazy idea, he directed the bubble straight through the Kallum line. Their battleships were still turning as they saw a huge blue bubble right before they were consumed by its awesome strength. It did not take them long to destroy at least 12000 ships. But the shields of the Blaze shields were almost depleted and so Jeodan broke off the bubble to form a more conventional line to battle the remaining 3000 ships that had previously broken off. These last ships stayed near the orbital defense platform. And Jeodan knew but one solution to combat this reluctance to fight on the Kallum side. Another round opened up against the Kallum planet from the blaze ships and death spread across the planets surface.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

"The ships in orbit," Carl said. "They're hyperspacing away."

They were. As if suddenly distracted, the ships guarding the planet were turning around. Soon, there were no Kallum starships left in orbit. All they had to worry about now were the automated defenses.

With the help of James and Amanda, the Terranova slipped through the defense perimeter unnoticed. Carl was about to initiate a scan of the surface, searching for a landing site, but James shook his head.

"We'll be seen," he said. "Let me take care of it."

He paused for a few seconds in deep thought, then whispered a set of numbers. Carl inputted those numbers into his navigational computer, and a waypoint appeared on the planet's surface.

Carl brought the Terranova on approach; the starship slid gently through the atmosphere and touched down in a small valley. Almost immediately, a camouflage net appeared, covering the ship and obscuring it from both visual and radar scans.

James and Amanda opened their eyes. James summoned his staff from where it had been laying on the weapons rack, while Amanda grabbed a sniper rifle. Logan loaded the Kyrozch energy rifle that had served him so well on the last mission, and Carl took his shotgun.

"Time to go," James said.

Re: Space: The Third Story.

"Good Evening, Gentlemen, its good to see all of you, though I wish it was on better terms. As you all know, four hours ago a massive Kallum Fleet assaulted the Locus System, destroying everything in their path and much of what was on Locus Prime. In response, we have moved out capital to the Kalnoky System, which has a far, more advanced and powerful defensive network. But that is not all our Emperor has asked of us. He wants to strike back, and strike hard." As whispers swept through the crowd of Talus Naval and Army Officers, Garrus took a sip of water before continuing, "Admiral Septimus, General Raxian and I have decided where we will attack. This is the Largo System," He pointed to a large hologram on his right. "In exactly four hours, all of Second Fleet, First Army and Fourth Army will commence an all-out invasion of the system's three habited planets. The objective is to eliminate all Kallum Forces in the system and make the system our frontal outpost and jump point for further invasions into Kallum territory. General Raxian will tell us more about the defenses.
