Topic: When will Obama start his first war

and against what country?
I think he will, cos the US  looks weak right now and it may be necessary to regain respect and ascertain world leadership.
It would also help his own presidency, make him look tough and distract from the economic crisis.

Re: When will Obama start his first war

Obama is waging war on the prosperity of the American people. We're going to go from global leader to... well, sit back and watch.

Re: When will Obama start his first war

I tihnk the wealth of the US people is more likely to be affected by the recession which started on Bush's watch than by Obama's new government

Re: When will Obama start his first war

Yup, but Blind Guardian can make claims like those because, even though the recession started under Bush, there is no way in hell (according to some) that anything Obama does would help to solve it. I'm not saying bailouts work, I've no idea, I'm saying that whatever Obama does - some people will hassle him either way.

Gondor: wtf, im not even mentioned. I was the glue to this family. Thats BS!
Econ: Gondor, if you were the glue, then I was the glue sticky thing that applies the glue.

Re: When will Obama start his first war

after Obama became president, the projections for how long the recession would last, projected a longer recession; Obama is creating a larger recession.

Re: When will Obama start his first war

Or maybe the original projections were just found to be incorrect? If things got worse than expected it does not mean it was Obama's fault or even that there would have been anything he could do about it.

Re: When will Obama start his first war

SD, the recession is because of Clinton's stupid policies of giving poor people things they couldn't afford.

Re: When will Obama start his first war

u ppl forget that Obama is already at war in Afganistan and Pakistan and also in Iraq

btw during his presidential compain he was talking about continuation of the war in Afganistan so if u voted for him then u clearly are a supporter of the war

Re: When will Obama start his first war

Obama is using the recession as an excuse to pass his party's agenda. Unless you are retarded enough to buy into the idea that massive credit spending is the solution to spending too much on credit, you've got no argument in favor of his "stimulus."

This isn't about Bush's (and a democratic Congress's) failures. Anyone who keeps making reference to Bush being responsible for everything any time anyone offers criticism of any of Obama's actions is a child and I don't care to have an embarassing enchange with you. Bush is responsible for what he's responsible for. That doesn't change our evaluation of Obama's actions. We're not as simple minded as you. We don't look at Obama and say "he do this, economy improve, Obama good!" Market performance is important (though effects on the market are often delayed, and so we're not just looking at this), but there's this thing called "history" and this field of study called "economics" that we can look to for important information as well. History and economics tell us that massive spending on credit cannot be solved by more credit spending. History and economics tell us that tax increases do not help the economy. Hell, common sense should tell you that one. History and economics tell us that tax inreases ONLY EVER hurt the economy.

We're discussing Obama's actions. Cry about Bush somewhere else. That Obama inherited a problem does not mean that he's not creating more.

Get an education. No one with a clue is even trying to make the argument that massive government deficit spending and higher taxes is going to help our economy.

Re: When will Obama start his first war

He voted for the war in Iraq did he not? So in a way...

Re: When will Obama start his first war

Blind Guardian, I didn't say that the recession was Bush's fault, all I said is that it started during his term so blaming Obama for it would be silly. Yes, I appreciate Obama's actions could make things worse but that is for history to decide in 10 or 20 years and is pretty hard to judge from now. Obama will be being advised by top economists on his handling of the current crisis so I would expect his actions on the situation to be far more informed than either my or your opinions. I am sure it is possible to find alternative economists with alternative views but frankly in situations like this the side that people come down on is usually entirely driven by their own political bias. I have said in other threads that judgments on Obama's actions either favourable or not are largely meaningless at this stage in his presidency when the effects of his actions have not yet been seen. A good example of your own bias driven attitude is that you refute the arguments that Obama inherited problems but entirely ignore DYT's comment that the current problems were caused by Clinton.

Please stop mindlessly referring to everyone as children. It is very annoying. Just because people disagree with you doesn't make them wrong or stupid and overly aggressive or defensive posts are uncalled for and just make you look a bit silly.

Re: When will Obama start his first war

Contrary to what Obama and many government leaders are saying, this is not an unprecedented crisis nor a crisis that won't repeat again, and we don't have to pretend ignorance of what works and what doesn't.

The prime goal of Bush and now Obama was to prevent major firms from collapsing and that is a failed goal.

If he sets out using false arguments for a flawed goal, why the hell should I pretend I won't know for 20 years that he's botching it?
