Topic: Legalizing pot?!?!?

That's the questions...

..what's your answer?

It's all anyone on TV can talk about, there are pros and cons for every side, Obama laughed it off when the questions asked if it could help the economy, was he right?

Should it just be pot that should be legal or every other drug as well? o.O

Would it really increase the number of people who do drugs if it were legalized?

Pros - Cons: List them!

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

Cannabis: Yes
Super Skunk (and similar strains): No (not enough in-built anti psychotic to balance the negative effects of THC)

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

Personally I am against all drug use, but whether or not my personal views should be inflicted on other people by making drugs illegal is something I have never quite made my mind up about.

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

I don't think it should be legalized, but It's not deserving of Jail time. Stiff Fines FTW!

We should make money off of stoners rather then give them free room and board

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

I am a proponet of returning flogging for using pot.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!
Kemp currently not being responded to until he makes CONCISE posts.
Avogardo and Noir ignored by me for life so people know why I do not respond to them. (Informational)

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

People who chronically use pot, in my experience, are unmotivated and parasitic members of society.

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

There are no cons. I'll grow and smoke whatever plant I damn well please. You think you have a right to interfere in my affairs? That's wrong.

I can do whatever I have the power to do. You think telling me it's wrong is going to stop me? What's going to happen, I'll be punished by a higher power?

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

Which is cause for limiting people's freedom? What a high standard you set.

You kids just don't know anyone successful, so of course everyone you know who smokes a little dope is a loser. Plenty of NASA engineers smoke. The President of the United States smoked. The list goes on and on.

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

Justinian your broad generalization of pot smokers is false.

For one thing, maybe it is the unmotivated people that smoke... as in the pot doesnt make them that way but since they are unmotivated they would rather smoke all day.

Secondly, my dad knows a guy who he worked for who was one of the best managers hes ever worked for. But unfortunately, they had a drug test and he failed so he was fired. It proves that not all pot smokers are unmotivated and parasitic members of society. This man was quite the contrary.

Also marijuana is not as bad you would like to think. Now I had sources because i did a project for school but I can go find them again to prove this to you as well.

Marijuana was banned in the U.S. mainly because the head of the bureau of narcotics was racist and he needed more government funding after the alcohol prohibition was over. There was a quote by Harry Anslinger (head of bureua of narcotics during the time marijuana was first banned) where he says that marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with african americans and that jazz music is satanic and it was created by pot smokers. If you look into this issue you will realize legalizing marijuana is the obvious best choice.

Another advantage of legalizing marijuana... Money! Right now you have drug dealers who are taking the full profit and government is nowhere in between. You also have drug dealers who are selling to minors. If you legalize marijuana, people can buy from legitimately taxed places and drug dealers will lose their demand. Who would want to do something illegal when they can do the same thing legally? Basic supply and demand economics dictates that the drug dealers will be gone. In the end we have higher state tax revenues and we can put that money towards stopping the illegal imports of marijuana from other countries.

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

in your experience?
could it be that you hang out with unmotivated parasitic people who happen to smoke pot?

this kind of shit makes me pissed.
i work 6 days sometimes 7 days a week, own my own business and i am a member of the city council.
my friends are teachers and doctors, lawyers, judges and other business owners.
while "pot" is still illegal i grow it and share it with these friends and we get together for barbecues and outings where we smoke it.
what i put in my body is my own business and no one elses.
and i live here in gods country "west virginia, usa".
these professional people know the difference from recreational use and a habit and act accordingly.
but i on the other hand smoke every day and have done so for 25+ years.
the only reason it is not legalized here in the states is because they havent figured out a plan to tax us on it when they do legalize it.

i wonder how many of you peeps who look down on smoking pot drink alcohol?
or smoke cigarettes?
or eat fast food?

you put more harmful shit in your bodies than i do,at least marijuana is natural.

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

Personally, I think pot should be legalized but then I think of alcohol and how many DUI's accidents we have, here in Canada, a great number of people die because of OTHER people under the influence..

How would the cops enforce someone smoking pot in their car... how would they distinguish between pot and cigarettes because if it were legalized I'm sure they would be rolled up just like cigarettes and there would be no real way for a cop to tell if it was pot or just a cigarette

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

Wow, in my experience most smoking drinkers are unmotivated and parasitic members of society.

There you go Skoe, throwing it right back at you.

(Just so it's clear to all, my first line was sarcasm.)

I don't smoke. I am a very light drinker. In my view, and that of the majority of the people whom I've spoken too on the issue, pot is no different then booze. It's a "mild" mind altering substance which, with regular use, can have major long term side effects. It is not, however, a "life destroyer," nor does it change peoples base tendencies. If someone is lazy, yes it will make them more so. If someone is active and hard working, they may get lazy while stoned, but that effect wears off with the drug. There is no valid reason for it to be illegal while similar substances are legal. It's as simple as that.

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

Significantly worse substances are legal.

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

Wouldn't it make sense to make the worse substances illegal, instead of making marijuana legal?  Considering most of you agree that it is damaging in the longer term.

Most of who? It doesn't cause cancer like cigarettes. It doesn't cause automobile fatalities to users and random innocent people on the road like alcohol.

>>Wouldn't it make sense to make the worse substances illegal<<

Yes, presuming that personal freedom is the enemy here. I would love for you to make more decisions for me that will have absolutely no impact on your life. Wouldn't that make sense!

It made me more active...at least when I used to do it in High School

and it made me ace my exam once...

Honestly, if you always second guess youself on tests or if you're not focused...smoke some pot
YOU'LL ACE the test tongue

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

I smoke pot.... probably not a good Idea given my mental "health" but... meh.
I don't drink alcohol (I've had 2 bottles of ale in the last 6 months).
I don't smoke tobacco (Only use it to mix with pot).
I don't eat fast food (mainly because I know what goes into it).

In fact most of the "smokers" I know are some of the healthiest, smartest, hard working people I've ever met.
The drinkers are complete dicks.

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

when they let us punch the crap out of some giggly hophead, again, I'll back decriminalizing the muggles.

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

I say legalize pot simply because it saves so much money in the long run.  Prosecution of pot smokers, confiscation of pot, destruction, etc. these are all fairly expensive.  Not to mention that if you legalize pot illegal grow ops will eventually go out of business and you have significantly fewer people stealing electricity.

On the health side it's no worse for you than tobbaco and impairs you no more than alcohol.

For people saying that pot smokers are unmotivated parasites some of them are and guess what legalizing pot won't affect that.  The unmotivated parasites already smoke pot, letting the government get some money off of them by taxing packs of joints doesn't make them any less productive and the number of people who don't smoke pot now but would if it was legalized is negligible.

There are 10 kinds of people in this world, those who understand binary and those who don't.

Re: Legalizing pot?!?!?

Many top activists agree that the worst thing about smoking pot is the actual smoke itself. Naturally the burning of the substance is bad.. So if everyone used a vaporisor or ingested it instead of smoked it, it should be legal right?

I can't understand why, if Cannabis has be documented and proved to have been used for thousands of years for many different useful medicinary purposes covering a wide range of ailments can suddenly be deemed as such a mind-altering substance impairing all judgment having no benefits.

It is not a religious thing. It is only a "drug" because the government says so. It's a cousin of the Tomato plant. It needs no processing to gain the desired effects. So whats the problem? You know if you smoke dried Oregano you can get off? How about Mescaline? how do you police getting psychedelic off drinking your cactus's?

Here's what the bible has to say for all you religious buffs out there:
Genesis 1:29-30
29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.
30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground

Its no fun until someone dies.
Cos I need to watch things die.
