Even the most compelling evidence wouldn't change anyone's opinions on this forum. Therefore I'd feel like I was going back to the 80s or 90s if I had to talk about this.

I've lived in Pa and travelled a lot around the US. A few of the states I went to were Florida, Lousiana, Kansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah.... I met a wide range of interesting people with a wide range of views on many subjects. Until now I had only met one person who I considered a "stereotypical American". It was a hairdresser in Ohio who asked me how I could speak English so well; she said that her greatest ambition in life was to cut the hair of a celebrity. Flint & Balsz are now my #2 & #3 "stereotypical Americans" since it appears that they are denial of ozone depletion.

Zidi is a true scientist, and I am just a man who has published a few white papers, had some tossed back at me (Rightfully so) and some which have garnered a bit of interest and scholarly debate. Therefore I am a scientist also, of math at this juncture, but I am getting my $$ so that if Inflation only goes to 50% I can possibly still afford MIT. Then I will be in physics and math, with some dozen or so minors, as I push for a Doctorate on my own dime. I am starting Uni in the next year for a Bach Degree, and that is with my own dime also.

Now I a scientist have focused on a few specific urls, after a decade of research on this topic. I have decided to stand by them as enough evidence to prove the case without needing further evidence. And against a Uni trained scientist no less.

This means I am prepared in this topic, and you should realize this.

Back in the 1700's they used to believe in witches so strongly as you do about man causing that hole. Maybe you should relook at the evidence.

Zidi I am not a proponent of 'send more funds, billions more, cause we need to research this more, by the way we are responsible, or maybe we are not, but that billions will tell us for sure!' type research.

Alarmist research is at best wrong.

In this case we can see a natural cycle based upon an 11 year solar cycle where the ozone replenishes itself and depletes itself.

My concern is that scientists forget history and statistics.

Statistically speaking there have been events where tons of 'ozone depletion/destruction things like methane' have been shot up into the ozone, and the science says these will stay up there and destroy to a fare thee well the ozone in huge amounts. If this was true, the science that is, then historically speaking we have had 100-1000 different times with no ozone, and those nasty things finding nothing to kill went back to sleep.

I mean we are talking 20 years of scare science here. Compared with 10,000 years of humanity? 100,000 years of life here? I dunno what the current claims on human life and life on earth are, I do not care, it's a big number.

To say all these cfc's reach the upper stratosphere also is a bit naive of these scientists. It ignores utterly dozens of different factors which fight against such from happening. Yes while some get up, I am also saying that to assume that these very molecules will stay up there, doing dmg and dmg in a tirade which will always continue is a little naive also, if this was true we were doomed when the first volcano ever erupted.

Therefore the scaring of all is a bit overblown.

Instead I am of the mind some cfc's make it up there, but in all they are not even 1% as harmful as anyone says they are. In fact most cfc's would be located in the northern hemisphere yet there is no gaping hole here.

Coincidentally the hole in the southern hemisphere is pretty damn close to the magnetic southern pole region, where the magnetic effect starts bending inwards to the source again. I think this is a contribution to the whole and is wholly ignored by the scare tactic scientists.

When theory starts shaping policy then theory is flawed.
