Topic: California in action

I have bee n driving through California on US 395, one of the longest stretches of nothing there is. And all day I have seen Cali govt workers moving one gravel pile to another ten feet away. I watched for a while at two piles. Crazy

It doesn't sound like "work" as such.

But I was woundering,  would prefer caltarns to do more work during the day? Do they work near your place and keep you up at night?

Re: California in action

hehe yeah would agree with you but whatever way we  (I say we because I'm a Civil Engineer and was working for a road construction company) do it, people complain. We get about 50% productivity at night which is poos, but then when I was driving to Seattle last weekend we had about an hour or more of delays because only 1 lane was open on the freeway.

If you weren't complaning that they should get the work done during the day, someone else would be complaining that they don't work at night. Of course when we have 2 or 3 shifts working 24 hrs it only seems to satisfy a small number of people.
