Topic: PC problems...

hey guys long time no see ^_^

can you help...

see... i put a fresh version of windows XP (SP2) on a computer, installed mobo drivers includin usb2, went to install drivers for printer (epson DX7450) but when the installation asked for the printer to be connected, the pc rebooted as soon as i plugged it in..

.. this once happened with another one of my pcs with another epson. i ended up putting another version of windows on cos i couldnt be bothered faffin around with it.

any help would be great

Try different USB ports, 2 of the ports on my laptop mess the PC up if I use them so I gotta use the 2 at the back.

In all honestly, setup everything without the printer, just get into windows and have it boot it. It is very likely the printer is not the problem. If you can get your computer up and running create a restore point then try to install the printer.

Screw windows. Try Ubuntu or Fedora. Nearly all printers are auto supported on Ubuntu. Plus they're free. Actually xp is fine.

However If you're willing to spend a few days pissed off you can download the cracked version of leopard from the OSX86 (use the build iDeneb) and turn your pc into a mac. My computer has Xp, Ubuntu, and OSX now. I can run nearly every program ever made by rebooting into a different operating system anytime I want.
