Re: An intervention in Pakistan

Uh-huh.

So a man trying to protect his daughter or son from being blown up INSIDE their school from several hundred extremists...has to pull a BFG out of his arse?

Yeah, awesome logic.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

Hey guess what little man, it's survival of the fittest.

Kill or be killed. That's how life works outside of civilization. You need to be rough and tough and know how to tumble.

They should form community groups that hunt down and kill people like that. Be wary of foreigners, people from outside your community. Watch them carefully, punish them for the smallest infractions. Let them know they're not welcome.

Prejudice and violence are the answers.

That's how it worked in England yo...and they turned out alright. tongue

It's not idealism, it's realism. It's how the world worked before the West got all pussyfooted. Infact, we were pretty good at it ourselves.

I've said often enough, slam the moon into the earth.  Its the only way.

The core joke of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is that of course no civilization would develop personal computers with instant remote database recovery, and then waste this technology to find good drinks.
Steve Jobs has ruined this joke.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

So the armys failure to control people in Swat...?

The people in S.W.A.T have been fighting for AGES, they are tribal feuds that have really don't have much to do with "anti-American terrorists", not everything this about America, believe it or not.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

Really? Cos i couldn't give a f[udged sunday] about America.

I'm talking about a country's resposibility to protect its own children.

Pakistan cant, so it needs to be assisted.

It seems Theo is mistaking a cricket team for a squad of Hollywood all stars ready to start blazing their way through countless bad guys while sustaining no wounds greater than a cut brow and possibly a grazed cheek.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

Skoe, it does not need help!

Let's not turn it into Iraq.

All you will do by "helping" is worsen the situation.

EDIT: I'm assuming by the way that you mean military "help" since that's what we've been talking about in this thread.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

Really?

It can get worse then killing and/or oppressing children?

I'm talking about a no bullshit entrance into Pakistan, remove their government, remove their governments enemies, and then let the democratic process bring about a new government -- one kept in check by the military. One that wont bow to the will of extremists.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

Yes, it gets worse by killing more innocent people, sort of like what happened in Iraq.

New democratic government?
Either make Imran Khan the president or let the army take over. The general this time is much better than Musharraf, he has much more support in the army. I don't care how these men get the power but either would be better for Pakistan, much much better.
Unfortunately Imran Khan can never find support in the political environment of Pakistan so screw the "democratic" process, it is never just that in Pakistan.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

Democracy isnt about finding the best candidate.

Its about ensuring the fuckups are removed on a regular basis.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

^

Your point?

Skoe, you have to understand that SWAT in Pakistan has been in turmoil for YEARS and the people stopped caring a long time ago. They are tribal feuds that have been going on for ages but after the war in Afghanistan they've been given a new target. It is also relevant to note that SWAT really has never been fully a part of Pakistan, there is no control there and the only leaders are the tribal leaders.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

So which tribe has the nukes?

[I wish I could obey forum rules]

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

@Gladiator

SWAT or Swat?

To me SWAT is an acronym tongue.

And Tribal leaders are no excuse. Action must be taken.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

SWAT the province. Like I said the Pakistani army is very loyal and a people's army, and the Pakistani people have no interest in fighting tribal leaders, they've been doing this since as long as they've known and so the army has no interest in it. This is still seen as America's war, that's one mistake Bush's diplomatic actions made in the region; making the war..AMERICA's war.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

Americas war is why Pakistanis cannot protect their own children against other Pakistanis (and Afghanis i guess) ?

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

What are you talking about?

Like I said people have been dying in SWAT for ages, and it isn't because of the war. Doing something about it now would just be saying that Pakistan is doing it for america.

Re: An intervention in Pakistan

I have never said its because of any war. I _DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANY WARS_.

I care about children that, in this particular case, aren't being protected by their own country-men. Thats sick -- hence the absolute need for an intervention.
