Topic: Obama pulls through eco crisis

President of the federal reserve said he deed the economics getting better. Gouverment aiding the mortgagemarket appears to be working.

Also he addressed the point of the republicans being sour losers and shooting down anything Obama does, just for the sake of shooting it down.



So i wonder,

Would the economy get better at a quicker speed if the opposition would get onboard with the smart people?

We are on board with the smart people, the idiots in the White House and in change of the House of Reps and Senate do not have a clue.

Everything bad in the economy is now Obama's fault. Every job lost, all the debt, all the lost retirement funds. All Obama. Are you happy now? We all get to blame Obama!

Um... Iluvatar, Obama's stimulus hasn't even come into effect yet!  There's no way he can get the credit for a recovery this quickly.

You're right but if I'm not mistaken he's been getting a lot of the blame for the crisis that was started well before he came into office; I say let him have this one and then, if the stimulus fails, you can tear him apart.

Hold up.  He hasn't been getting the blame for the current crisis at all.  Where have you gotten that?


Now, I have heard that he has perpetuated the crisis at hand by basically scaring people shitless, saying we're headed for a huge economic crisis.  If you're talking about this, then I dare you to explain how this helped the economy, instead of just using a fallacious causation argument.

If Obama's ideals hurt the country, then you shouldn't play along with him.

Those Republicans that oppose Obama believe his ideals hurt the country.

So screw him.  You're sidestepping the issue, and assuming Obama's plan will help the country, when it still is a matter for debate.

Hmmm if we removed all environmental controls so the oceans and sky turned black, or trees are all cut down, or all the rivers run dry, then that would be really smart?

Do you think that existing environmental controls are sufficient, further damage to the environment is being prevented, and improvements are being made?

I suppose if we followed the republicans the larger corporations would be more profitable and executives could double their bonuses; it doesn't matter if the only planet we can live on becomes uninhabitable.

Maybe, but then again it has worked in the past and measures like those we are seeing at the moment should not be long term.

Eco,

1. A lack of regulations on the economy did not cause the economic crisis. It was political corruption, and the fact that some regulations gave incentives for CEOs to make risky investments.

2. Actually, I like the status quo for the most part. These days environmental groups just want to grab power, and that's reflected in their policies. If they really wanted to make a difference, they would be lobbying harder to exchange energy-efficient technology with China than try to shut down a coal power plant.

3. I think we should invest in people in ways like education (on merit ofc), and I don't want people to starve in the streets. But liberals promote equality (opposed to merit) in things like affirmative action and giving poor people absurd loans so they can acquire a home. POOR PEOPLE LIVE IN APARTMENTS!

1. Under our eeeeeeeevil right wing scheme, AIG would pay $0.00 in bonuses in 2009 because it would have filed bankruptcy and liquidated in 2008.

Yeah 10% unemployment and a 2-year recession trumps 10% unemployment and a 2-year recession, $3 trillion more in debt and stagflation for years.

2. Yes pretending we need to freeze carbon dioxide emissions is crap, refusing to upgrade our power supply is crap, and suing to leave our earth pristine for the second billion Chinese to consume in 2180 is crap.

3. Obama just tore up "welfare to work" for the duration of his Presidnecy. Was that "reform"?

BTW Now he's gonna make vets private insurance pay the VA for their service injuries. Is that reform? (See drudgereport com for the link my paste function is out)

Quite the contrary.  I listen to him... sometimes...

Now, first of all, you would have to cite something specific he said.  But seriously, I listen to lots of these right wing radio hosts... and the only argument made that Obama is harming the recession right now (meaning that actions he has done in the past have had consequences either now or in the past that are having negative economic consequences now) are perception-based arguments, such as recession rhetoric.

Hmmmm, I could go into the web and find something, but as I think about it, it's quite possible he was blaming the democrats more so than Obama, but in any case, it doesn't matter. It's all speculation and media no matter which way the finger gets pointed!

I'm just correcting the issue that, short term, any gains can be made as a result of Obama's policies (I would, however, argue that the President's speeches can affect consumer and investor confidence... in this respect, I think Obama, short term, probably has done some damage to the economy).
