Topic: Reading lord of the rings

In my short lived life I've read a few books most were not longer then 150-200 A3 pages. Some were 400 pages but they had marges of at least 3cm on all sides so they don't really count.

I've wanted to read it for a while now. But the 1100 pages of small text didn't get jumping to read it. But after several years I'm being more or less forced. At the end of the school year we have to do a 1hour long presentation of a book that was made into a film. The first second it was announced I looked at my friends I saw their lips move in unison. Lord of the ring they said. Forced as it were I told myself I could not leave it for the very last days to read it. I knew it was going to be impossible, so just a few days ago I went and picked it up from the library. I made this to share my experiences and maybe praise it or provide some critic as to why you should or not read it. This is my tale

First impressions: IT'S [pulsingly] HUGE.

That aside I always read at least 20-30 pages of any book that I might borrow to see if it intrigues me. I read them and immediately thought that if this was to continue like this (useless info) I

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

I dont even take the time to read further then the first 2 lines smile but there is something you can do, and that is watching the movie big_smile

Yeah i did, but I have to read the book for school. I've read more sad things then this here in the community forum:p. Maybe i should have posted this in roleplay forum where people read books:p.

Heh, you think Lord of the Rings is a challenge to read? Don't take this the wrong way, but that's sad tongue
If you want a book from the same author that's tougher to read, go for The Silmarillion tongue

In all seriousness, I once had the same opinion (omfg, LotR is way too much to read in a short time!). But that all changed when I read Rushdie's Satanic Verses...

I'll never know if it was worth the pain, but I still loved it more than anything in the world - it was my life.

i'm still pretty young so i'll probably meet bigger badder books. But this is the only book that i wasent able to finish in one go like i do with other books.

Simarillion was indeed hard to read.

I didn't even get to Bree when I tried to read The Fellowship. But that was about three or four years ago.

Lord of the Rings is a book you have to grow into. When I read it, it took me quite some time to get used to it as well. But when you reach The Two Towers, it's all great smile

"If you want a book from the same author that's tougher to read, go for The Silmarillion."

Now, that was a pain to read, but well worth it.
