Topic: London is the [w00f!] city in the world

One bit of snow and everything stops! Even the underground! wtf?? How can the UNDERGROUND be affected by snow? [w00f!]. Real men like me were rolling giant balls of snow in public places, then standing on top and getting naked.

....i know what you mean....no buses, trams, trains...just illegal taxis and nutters (in lycra) on bikes....anyway i got to go to work....if only i could remember where i put my bike and matching spandex?

I spent 2hrs today walking on slurry and ice -_-..i developed several techniques to walking over each type of dangerous surface..i may write a book.

well, last yr(in Canada) we had just over 3ft of snow where i lived, and that wasnt evn the most snow we had in the country

....the biggest issue we had was that several years ago we privatised the contracts for the councils (who now have to out-source jobs) and so the old "works department" (who used to have the remit of dealing with snow, etc) was made redundant....we sold the snow ploughs as we only have this occurring in this country approximately every 15-18yrs (it is caused by a wind from siberia) and it was not seen as "cost-efficient" to keep them....which would of cost the UK about 3-4 million pounds for their upkeep, tax, mot, insurance, maintainance, etc....as it is we now have a cost of 3-6 billion pounds.....(great maths guys)....although we had 3 weeks warning this was going to arrive the forecasters could not decide how heavy and in the end it was the heaviest snowfall for 18 years....the bus drivers turned up for work but were told by health and safety it would not allow departure due to dangerous conditions....which when you hear of the "bendy-bus" withdrawels (the same busses that used to just randomly burst into flames mid-journey....gave me the shivers when i asked for a one-way ticket!) due to a crash in central london, may of been a good idea....and add the fact (and i find this hardest to "swallow") is we are facing a "salt-shortage"....we are an island nation surrounded by salt water and we are running out....now and then it sucks being english....being ruled by idiots....making idiotic laws....and even "forgetting" to repeal them....it is still legal to kill a welshman by bow and arrow and 100 paces if you find them inside the walled city of chester!....so i do not hold up much hope for any new snow emergency laws!

i agree whit deci im living allmoust artic ricle and i havent seen one somalian here.
but if i go capital where i lived about 9 months there were beggers living on our tax pay!!!
i didnt even had guts walt at my place w/o friend whit me because thes assholes shoutning our back w/o reason...
what i have heard and leanrd they are scum of people

OMG! My horrendously huge 4X4 can't cope with 2 inches of snow, now I shall never I get to work!

Personally I measure the journey in time; If I can't walk there in less than an hour THEN I consider using a vehicle.

I tend to walk places too, but walking in snow and ice (a) actually takes longer and (b) can be quite dangerous. The problem was that (where I was anyway) none of the roads or the pavements were either gritted or had any attempt made to clear them at all. I thought it was pretty pathetic that the whole rail network and even the underground also ground to a halt. To repeat the (clearly far too rude) thread title. London is the [w00f!] city in the world.

That's right, I said [w00f!], as in like[w00f!]. OMG OMG, cover your eyes, cover your ears, save the children.
