My experience is that poor people are receptive to demagoguery. I wouldn't be surprised that the fast transition of power in South Africa could have lead to these types of things. My position has some support even. The government has decided that AIDs doesn't exist, for example, and now one of the wealthiest and most powerful countries in Africa has a major AIDs epidemic.
