I allways wonder how it should be diversified. we get gas from norway. we get gas from the uk. and mainly from russia.. how many other suppliers could there be?
I think what we need to do is working hard on using less gas instead.
I saw statistics which said that an average german house needs around 25 liters of oil (or a different but still huge ammount of gas) each m
what we need is the new pipeline for natural gas through the baltic see, giving us a direct link to russia. f*** poland and the baltic states for their fears of russia and their demands for access to the pipeline. if it comes worse: poland is plain and our tanks are fast, we from the west and russia from the east. the plans are the same as 1939 ![]()
Or we could just tell the Germans that ther are empty sunbeds in Poland.
Sorry about that being my only contribution, but my current abode uses storage heaters and electric cookers (to be honest I'm not sure we even have a gasline to the house) is this is not my problem.
hehe... Amazing how you all Fear Russia..... I wonder why
Yea, with King Putin in control, I would be worried.
Its not Putins fault, just call back your eastern european lackeys.
ahhhh...... I see.
Its Americas fault.
Got it

Who's afraid of Russia? It's not Europe they're pissed at, but America and her little friends, remember? Or were you hoping that the average European is as world aware as the average American?
I'm a European and I fear the Russian gov. Doesn't matter who "they" are pissed at. Its just a power play. If they can, they will use their energy weapon to blackmail Europe. And for what its worth, I still have more faith in the EU as in the failed new tsar.
I still hope one day the Russians will overthrown this new dictatorship and establish a democracy.
Fokker, thats why I value your level of intellegence..... you see because you make a good point.
I mean, When America gets pissed at France, we usually disrupt the flow of our Grain to Russia.
Because we can.
Also, The Sun may not shine today..... Thats America's fault as well.
Fokker taught us all that as fact.
Security is an important concept. Food security. Energy security. Military security. Luckily energy security ties in nicely with Climate Change - something Exxon recognise, hence their recent change of tune. Guarantee energy security and the money will flow.
Had the US elected Al Gore, they'd already be almost independent from Venezuelan and Arab oil. If the EU is serious about Kyoto targets, then the next decade could see serious depression-busting sums spent on alternative fuels.
And how would have GORE done that ?
How will Kyoto do what you claim ?
it makes us put better isolations around our houses.. the goverment is giving some money for that.. i see many people do it.
I see all new houses being built using a natural source for at least heating.. most have solar panels aswell (ok.. the question is if solar panels are so great).
as i said in some other thread.... average houses use the enrgy of 25 liters of oil for heating each m
the EU will probably also be banning Plasma TV's inorder to save electricity; so you euros will be doomed to watching the blurs that happen with LCD's with fast moving images, like sports.
"And how would have GORE done that ?"
Happy thoughts?

Oh the horror. Personally I've never noticed any difference between the two but then I've never seen them side by side and my vision isn't all that great to begin with.
I wonder how long it will be before the UK officially becomes the 51st state. My guess is that it's coming soon. UK politicians will use this as an excuse to start getting friendly with US energy companies. Can you say "reverse economic imperialism"?
EDIT
"Nabucco pipeline - which is intended to bring gas from the Caucasus to Europe, bypassing both Russia and Ukraine -"

The article in on Turkey's bid to join the EU, but isn't this what your talking about Little Paul?
Black Wing - my guess is two-fold. Though I admit I was being flip as changing energy sources is a longterm project (20 years or more). Firstly, the US would have invested more heavily in renewables. Secondly, the US would have rolled out tougher restrictions on emissions.
Kyoto targets means that action must be taken. if action is required, then money must be sent. Jobs and industries created. Remember it was WWII spending that took America out of the depression (and to a lesser extent the depression was an impetus for the Hoover dam - renewable energy). It was huge government projects (like the Autobahn and remilitarisation) that took Germany out of the depression.
LCDs use about 1/3 the energy of plasmas and picture quality is pretty equal. Also, refresh rates on top-end LCDs are pretty good. Personally, I think there's other TV technology that is more expensive now but much better to look into.
Tire: Err, never? America is still a British colony, like Canada! And Nabucco is not about bypassing Ukraine or Russia. The gas coming from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan via Georgia and Turkey. It means more sources.
Kyoto targets the producers.
Kyoto forces transplantation of production centers.
Kyoto favors the countries that will NEVER follow those restrictions.
Kyoto is not fair....at all.... its an environmentalist assault on the capitalists
Yea... LCDs. I like them too. Here in the US, we like our HD service and our LCD TVs.
yeah i like to download those HDs for free allso.
I don't get it. The Russians never heard of Beano? ![]()
