Re: Windows 7

ah ok, i thought you claiming i was conceited, so added a G to my name to make God in my name. saying i thought of myself as God and was handing down laws; would of been a better argument imo then what you really meant. what you said sounds like something a nazi would say to win an argument tongue

Re: Windows 7

From what i read about Windows 7 and Vista, it sounded like they were testing some of their code outside of Windows 7 and ended up spending so much time/money on testing they just tossed it with a few other things and made Vista, lol.

Since service pack 1 Vista has been considerably more reliable. The only negative to XP Pro is it cant properly handle multiple cores to make use of them sad

Re: Windows 7

To this day I still consider Vista to be a joke.

I wasn't one of those taken in by the shiny graphics and flashy bits.  If I want poor and disappointing flashy bits I'll go to the man on the corner of the road wearing a long rain coat over his birthday suit.  Unfortunately though, the underlying operating system was bloated and, well, frankly crap.  I evaluated Vista about 10 months ago using a friend's copy and really got fed up of it quite quickly.  One of the things that *really* made me laugh was how some of the "widgets" and other flashy stuff was taken directly from Ubuntu Linux, yet looked like it had been implemented by a six-year-old.  So instead I wiped Vista and went back to dual booting with Windows XP and Ubuntu.

I really hope Windows 7 will be a big improvement on Vista, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Windows 7

Lat, I've taken a look around in 7 (on a VM), and I must say it doesn't look all that bad...

Re: Windows 7

indeed, one of my co-workers said all the reviews he'd read so far were positive.

Unfortunately, I've heard that before. tongue  Either:

2) People were being genuine and honest and then M$hit find a way of screwing up the final product.

So I'm going to test Windows 7 on this machine and see what happens, but as I say, I'm not holding my breath.

One of my friends also commented that it was 'awesome'

Not many people know this, but I own the first radio in Springfield. Not much on the air then, just Edison reciting the alphabet over and over. "A" he'd say; then "B." "C" would usually follow...

So was longhorn tongue. Look how that turned out.

I will eventually test it myself, on real hardware and vm, but i havnt been around to download it yet (The official beta testing thing seems to be always down for me...).

Re: Windows 7

I love it big_smile. And i'm a *really* tough critic.

Things to mention though:
- Still has IE.
- Couldn't pick up my audio card.

It installed flawlessly on my secondary computer and works slightly faster then my primary computer (Which has a superior processor, graphics, and twice the ram).

Re: Windows 7

I tried it out, nothing special. Just adds an extra annoyance to take out (only takes 5 minutes, but still), that pesky dock-like piece of penis taskbar.

As can be seen here, it can actually be made usable:

Re: Windows 7

Actually, i like the way the taskbar sits now.
Its more productive then XP/Vista/OpenSUSE/Ubuntu/whatever, IMHO anyway.

Soon i'll install it on my primary machine and give it a real workout tongue.

Edit:

And now its installed on my primary machine smile.

rofl troll!!!!!

What do I have to work with?

Re: Windows 7

Its actually quite a nice operating system. If they are going to wait another couple of years to release it, it could end up quite polished...

Re: Windows 7

I installed it on my tower the other day smile I like how the taskbar is for Windows 7 more then XP/Vista. The little pop up when you hover is nice.

It's been running at a constant of 1.2gigs of ram in use at all times it seems. Pretty similar to Vista.

The task bar had a little glitch for me yesterday. None of the icons or button outlines for the clock, wireless and one other thing were showing but you could click where they were supposed to be and it'd work. I moved the taskbar to the side and then back to the bottom and it fixed it's self

The installation was great big_smile It found every single driver for my tower! Even the D-link wireless card that doesn't have drivers for XP 64bit from D-Link X( smile
