after you've seen it over a hundred times, it starts to become not a bad movie lol

Re: Favorite movie

Some of you guys like really crappy movies (i.e. "The big Lebowski,Troy")

The Shawshank Redemption
Batman Begins
Sea biscuit (Spelling ?)
Oceans 11

All Will smith movies are ok, but not worthy of being in the top movies.

Re: Favorite movie

the big lebowski is a pretty good movie; i cant believe you can call it that and then list shawshank redemption, sea biscuit, and oceans 11 as great movies, when they're utterly horrible.

Re: Favorite movie

Big Lebowski, I liked it. Not sure if I'd call it one of the best but then again, that's not what this is about. Its just our favs big_smile

The Bil Lebowski is a masterpiece. I guess it's a type of humous one has to learn to appreciate..

lol Shawshank redemption is considered to be one of the best movies ever. Ocean's eleven was awesome as well..... Sea biscuit wasn't bad, but nothing special either.

Re: Favorite movie

Speaking of war movies, Band of Brothers is fantastic, by far the best.

Re: Favorite movie

Isn't that a series?

Or did they make a movie of it too?

What do I have to work with?

IMDB ratings, rotten tomatoes ratings, professional critics etc. quite a bunch of people, so to speak smile

Oh, and band of brothers isn't a movie tongue

Re: Favorite movie

Its a series of movies sad.  They are like 2 hours long a piece or something like that, I'd throw them in the movie(s) category.

Re: Favorite movie

"IMDB ratings, rotten tomatoes ratings, professional critics etc. quite a bunch of people, so to speak smile"

if all it takes to be a great movie is to provide drivel for the masses, then i guess it might be a great movie. but Shakespeare isnt considered great because of his popularity during his time, mass curb appeal is a horrible way to judge something.

Re: Favorite movie

....as the saying goes "one mans meat is anothers poison"....each movie will appeal to different "sections" of each individual community....

@avogadro...."but Shakespeare isnt considered great because of his popularity during his time"....indeed....shakespeare only became truly great during the victorian "romantic" period....personally i believe he should never be classed as a poet as his "poems" did not rhyme....thus they are short stories....

....as for band of brothers....i enjoyed that as well....but it was a series (albeit a long run of series) but a series all the same....you could not and would not include all the two-parters such as csi, charmed, etc as they are series as well....i whole-heartedly agree though on the shawshank redemption and the big lebowski....these two movies were "special" in their own rights....shawshank was a groundbreaking film which will stand the test of time....whereas lebowski was just pure genius....but that is just my opinion....i would not criticise anyone for saying otherwise as everyone has their own likes/dislikes....i dislike horrors and "easy" films....JFK was a good one but that is probably because i am english and we don't spend a lot of time learning about that subject during schooling....whereas (i imagine) an american would be rather more "blase" about this film....just like the italian job (original not the rubbish remake) was iconic in my eyes but others may view it with contempt....some good films could be considered "drivel for the masses" but they achieve their goal....for the masses....and well done to them....it is all about money now....it used to be about the acting and the "believeability" of characters....there are plenty of great films around such as seven samurai (japanese version b/w) which preceded the american remake "magnificent seven" which although good lost some of it's meaning in the translation....so before we stand in judgement of others choices....remember these choices are what makes us all unique....it is what makes us all free....in short, my friends, it is democracy in action....i rest my case....

Re: Favorite movie

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
Shawshank Redemption
O Brother Where Art Thou?

I Could list of stupid stoner movies, but everyone with a thread of humour loves those types of movies.
