Back, after a computer problem big_smile

So wait, Nai's daughter just opened a can of whoop-ass on James, right?

Also, I hope I was accurate on what a Cy'Tan 'salute' is, Aro.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Sala,

Nai's Daughter just arrived on the scene and has yet had no interaction with the story. The Temporal transport she arrived on has been posthumuthously installed the Pilar of Logan on Blacken as mentioned in someone's post. That vessel, being a time ship would have been in/out without anyone's knowledge on blacken, so its appropriate no one saw it.. And has departed. Only other time it might show is if someone else dies.

For those who understand, no explanation is needed.
For those who do not understand, no explanation is possible.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

time ship?...

Thats going a bit too far Nai

Just make em go really, really fast.

Ah.. so just a Dreamweaver. Gotcha tongue

Also, I agree with Aro. The ship was either cloaked exceptionally well by advanced technology, or can move hella fast. Time ships is too far.

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

In theory could they not just have opened a jump gate send the thing through and closed it so fast it seemed it appeared out of nowhere?

Seems cooler to me

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Much of the scion technology is time related. It's not like star trek with some ships that run all over the place, but if you take it from the persective of the Scion as gardeners of life, and the multi-verse our garden.. it's not so far fetched. This is how the Scion know who the marker races are, the ones that perpetuate life for eternity.. Also, with that knowledge comes great responsibility. And why it is so highly guarded. The cast that operates the temporal abilities even hide this information from Nia. And it was introduced only as a means to illustrate the delivery of the Pilar of Logan. The temporal abilities the Scion wield will not be used, unless of course, someone else dies and needs a pilar anywhere else in the story..

Talus TF-G1 "Hound" MBT vs. UEF Titan assault bot. Which would win?

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

An assault bot would most likely have more maneuverability but if its anything short of a Mech Warrior, it

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Hmm. Two heavy-duty plasma cannons, personal shield, and head-mounted missiles. If piloted by a human (why, though!?!?), add optional advanced fire-control radar that turns pilot's robot into whirling maelstrom of destruction.

The Mongoose assault bot NEEDS to make an appearance. Seriously.

Out of curiosity, what does the Talus air force look like?

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

I'm guessing that most of the space ships cannot stay within atmosphere long. I think that for some reason tongue. Maybe because of the engines not being environmentally friendly.

But I dont get why anyone would even have a separate wing of ground air support unless you could make the fighters more efficiant engines then those in space although i doubt that. Unless your fighter class ones(in space) are able to enter and exit the atmosphere. Then it would be feasable. Because the others would be specifcly made for that

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

The Talus Air Force? Well its mainly fighter/bombers from Spacecraft. Most military bases have a Vishna (Talus Fight/Bomber Class in production) squadron on site, but not more then four squads of five. Mind you, Matthias, a Hound has shields and an auto-turret as well, some Commanders have purchased upgrades for their tanks, but not all.
The Talus Army is beginning to implement a system, by which Talisian soldiers can purchase extra equipment (on top of the basic provided stuff), through a Kill Count, at their leisure; to enhance their fighting potential. The system is currently used in the Talus 'Air Force' as you would call it, as a way to motivate soldiers to not only defeat the enemy, but to also keep trooper occupied discussing combinations of equipment that can be made to give a soldier the best chance at getting a kill.

Now, of course, The Talisian Army and Navy aren't currently invading any systems of planets, so the system is limited to war games, where soldiers receive smaller amounts for each 'kill'. Example: Soldier A shoots Soldier B during a war game, instead of getting credit equal to that of killing a real Kallum Soldier, Soldier A would get either half a credit, or a credit towards a more limited array of equipment and weapons.

And yes, Aro, Talus ships have the ability to sustain themselves while inside the atmosphere of a planet, but they must constantly be moving or Gravity would slowly over-come their self-propulsion systems, kind of like a plane has to keep moving or it crashes, but the ships wouldn't fall quite as fast.

::EDIT::

I'm also working on a post, it'll be up later tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest big_smile

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Dang, that's shiny. I like especially the part about veteran commanders being able to 'purchase' upgrades for their tanks.

Most UEF conflicts are resolved by robotic units controlled by an on-site Commander using an ACU, but in times of emergency (should all the ACUs be rendered not operational for some reason) units can be piloted by humans.

That said, the UEF air force has a number of units at its disposal.

- For rapid response, the UEF has its Cyclone interceptor. Armed with a couple railguns, it's fast and maneuverable, but fragile.
- For air superiority, the UEF has its Wasp ASF. Armed with a couple pulse cannons, some missiles, and a railgun, it's not as fast, but can effectively engage any target and take lots of damage without dying.
- Tactical bombing is taken care of by the Scorcher attack bomber. The UEF love incendiaries, and a Scorcher can easily light swaths of territory - and enemy soldiers - completely ablaze.
- Strategic bombing is taken care of by the Ambassador high-altitude bomber. Carrying tactical-size nuclear warheads, a single Ambassador can wreak havoc on an undefended platoon or base.
- Ground support is taken care of by two different types of gunship. The Stinger is light and fast, armed with armor-piercing autocannon, and able to airlift a single vehicle into battle. The Broadsword is bulky, heavy, and armed with a pair of heavy-duty plasma cannons (the same type mounted on the Titan assault bot). Optionally, the Broadsword can also carry a shield.
- Air transport is achieved by three different vehicles. The C-6 'Courier' can carry six small units, two medium units, or one large unit anywhere fast; the C-14 'Star Lifter' can drop fourteen small units, six medium units, or three large units directly into the line of fire. The C-28 'Continental' has exactly twice the capacity of the C-14 and is shielded, allowing it to take units places where other transports simply cannot go.

Blarg... don't know why I wrote all that... was bored. tongue

Re: Space: Sign Ups and OOC, Version 2.0

Why, thank you.
I do like the system, even if i stole it from a book  big_smile

Talisian cyber-engineering and cyber genetics are neither advanced enough, or funded enough to create Artificial Intelligence-operated robotic units, except for Heavy Graser Defense Turrets, which are self-explanatory as to why they aren't used to fight wars.

Plus there is the whole thing about Talus reproducing and maturing faster than Humans (even though the Human population is vastly larger than the Talisian one). That, coupled with the difference in societies: Talisian is Honor based, so war is an everyday part of life basically, while Human society is more social and technology-driven, thus there is less desire for real people to fight bloody wars because they can be replaced by robotic soldiers.

The main reasons the Talus don't accept robotic units as soldiers in their Armed Forces are these:

1. They don't see sending others to die for you as particularly honorable, which is why Talus Officers are either in front of near the front of their unit while in battle

2. They believe that no matter how advanced an AI is, it will never have a real person's (Human or Talus) ability to look into a situation, think through it and prioritize what must be done, nor will it have a person
