Re: Oil Prices are falling....

Ohh, what does work then Schniep ??

Tell me, what does work ?

back to supply and Demand.
If I have a contract in oil, and I put it on the market for X that is the price for that one contract.

Buyers buy, sellers sell.   Who are WE to say what is to high, what is to low.
YOU dont have to buy the fuel at ANY price.

Elasticity of a product, such as oil, determines ultimate demand.  Demand is almost fixed....there is some choice but not much.
We are not talking about chocolate or beer now.
This is Oil and oil products.  NO ONE has the power to manipulate such a huge fixed market.
It is WAY too easy to accuse.................. especially when its just so easy to accuse w/o facts of the market.

its the reason I started this thread.....Yet, you continue to not waver, not bend.

Its greedy peoples, and not the market..... supply and demand its really simple.  It so simple, yet people will believe what ever they are told.

It all goes back to Leftists, control of information through fear mongering, and an assault on the free market system.
People will NOT learn their lesson.

SOCIALISM and GOVT. CONTROLS are failures on the market system.
Manipulation by those that manipulate the masses through false information from the central govt. are the root of any failures in the system.
They do it by assaulting the unknowledged in the field w/ attacks on the "haves", and promise distribution of what the "haves" have to the "have nots."

Its EASY to blame the big companies, and the rich "Speculators" that made money.....even though there are QUITE a few that lost money.....saying there is no way that price of oil can continue up.....so they kept betting .....and loosing the other way.....because after all:

SPECULATION = GAMBLING  there is no science to it.  You bet one way or the other...and use what ever knowledge you can......

Sure, there are also past results of horse racing too.
THAT EVIL Speculator hit the long-shot and won a bunch of money,
QUICK, attack that evil speculator, and give me his money...................because my horse lost, and its HIS fault....yea !!

Same scenario Schniep.....all you other leftists.
Same scenario.

"Buyers buy, sellers sell.   Who are WE to say what is to high, what is to low."

When the cost of rice and flour (actual flour I mean, not already baked bread) almost doubles in price, due partly to record oil prices last year and first part of this year, oil prices are too high.

When Exxonmobil makes $39b in NET PROFIT, oil prices are too high.

When Exxonmobil makes $40b in NET PROFIT (not many years later), oil prices are too high.

The point I'm trying to make (not that BW will listen) is that even if Exxonmobil was making $10b less a year, they would still be the most powerful player in the oil business. That $10b would get passed on to consumers, keeping the costs of goods and services down. Lower costs = more buying = healthier economy.

"NO ONE has the power to manipulate such a huge fixed market."

But yet the market is control ed, and the Feds are aware of the price gouging, and yet the look the other way, because the tax is juicy, and most of the Feds are in office because of a sizable donation, they received is prolly from the likes of oil companies.

We as Americans are at about roughly 8Giga Barrels a year, we produce about 2.5-3.0 of those barrels we import roughly 5GB's, in turn over >3<Gbs come from CANADA, they are the U.S.'s biggest importer of oil.

It doesn't cost much to run oil from Canda to U.S. refineries, and in turn since most of our imported oil is in fact Canadian, we can't argue politics are to blame on the cost.

Supply in demand? Yes, and no - The supply while measured, is there and as of now nearly endless, (Canada predicts to have over 200 years worth of Crude Oil reserves, the biggest in the known oil world, however, they are barely tapping into it.), Demand?

Always high it's the only thing we can use to push our cars and make em go vroom vrooo, but in turn is the demand enough to justify the cost? NO.

The cost of drilling, logistics, and refinement of said oil doesn't even come close to what they charge.

@ Imperial...and it will go up again as the economies of the world begin to pick up steam......IF....there is no more supply to the market.

Drill baby Drill.

Let GOV.  PALIN  run the Dept. of Energy........ think OBAMA is bi-partisan enough for that ??

Agreed....it is AMAZING how low the price is,.... given what it takes to get that gas in my SUV.....my fuel oil into my house......all those plastics/petrolium based products...

amazingly low, INHO

CANDADIAN.
Ever wonder what the GOVT. MANDATED Ethenol requirements have done to the balance of Farming based commodities ??

put me in frozen stasis and wake me up when the average person is allowed to, able to afford, and able to have installed a hydrogen fuel producing machine in their basement connected to a rain catchment / rain water filtration machine connected to electricity producing solar panels and wind generators on a detached suburban home with an ample yard to grow all the vegetables and fruit a family of 6 would need to satisfy their calorie intake and and a hydrogen-powered flying car - all affordable on single, minimum wage salary.

Re: Oil Prices are falling....

ethenol is bullshit, most educated people know it, even economists are turning.  food prices go through the roof and corn is hard to produce to begin with. the energy value to get it off the field and turn it into fuels doesnt match the output that it gives you.  in short, its junk.  UC Davis has been working with BP on crops that actually work, such as prarie grasses and the like.  these alternatives can produce around 20 dry tons per acre and have a much higher energy value, not to mention are far easier to get from the field and into fuel.

and as to the companies paying dividends to shareholders..... what shareholders?  the really rich mofos who run wallstreet? yup.  over 80% of the stocks on wallstreet are owned by less than 1% of the population.  who benefits from those profits? really really rich guys.  will they ever let a penny of that "trickle down" to you or i? hell no, not unless we sell them a yacht or a porsche.

that 80% to 1% doens't make sense given the volume of trading over the last 20 years, compared to the previous 80.  When the Dow traded 3000 shares a day, maybe...but not at 14000

given the volume of trading? amigo what are you talking about? 1 person can weild massive amounts of stocks, have people buy or sell them ,etc etc.  its not just one guy with a billion stock, rich people have people for that sort of thing.  If i had enough capital i could own damn near everything on wall street, and do what i liked with it.

Re: Oil Prices are falling....

Yell?  Why did you edit Imperial and my posts?  Your censorship in this case is entierly unwarranted.  It was a legitimate question, not just meant to flame, no bad language, no reason to censor it.  Yell, you have violated our right to free speech.  It was not hate-speach, it was in no way 'harmful' to anyone.  You have demonstrated abuse of your mod power, and for that your moderation priveledges should be revoked, in my opinion.  Would other mods please review the posts and verrify that censorship was not warranted.

Imperial.  You implied in your post that was so rudely interferred with that the people who simply continue to live their lives in subjugated oppression are lazy.  Your implication is that if they were not lazy they would be able to attain more freedom and a better life for themselves.  However, perhaps the apathy of modern, developed society is not a product 'laziness'  Perhaps it is not a matter of the populace being to 'comfortable' in their decadent living in developed society.  I don't think it is as simple as that. the tendancy for populations in the developing world with populations with far less 'comfortable' standard of living are just as apathetic as those in developed societies.  The vast majority of ALL people regardless of their standard of living suffers from the same sort of apathy that led the holocaust victims so quietly to the gas chamber.

So what was it that made them apathetic, and thus imprisoned by their apathy?

Ghandi's notion of freedom involved a dualistic notion: inner freedom - that is becoming free within your own self, and outer freedom - that is being free to pursue your life (within reason) without interference from others.  His notion of freedom involved the concept that one can only be free outwardly in direct proportion to how free they are inwardly, and, therefore, the first and foremost struggle for freedom is an individual, personal, and / or spiritual struggle within the individual's mind, and / or soul.  The primary means by which this inward struggle for inward freedom is attained is by using one's rationality to deconstruct and analyse one's personal fears, and expose the roots of those personal fears for what they really are.  In that way, one can overcome one's personal fears.  In doing so, one often witnesses their level of outward freedom naturally increase, without effort, without struggle, and above all, without violence.

Now, if outward freedom is atainable by overcoming one's personal fears, why do people in comfortable, modern, decadent, developed society have a kind of apathy allowing for them to be manipulated and led to slaughter like the holocaust victims?  Aren't people in the developed world free?  Where are the guards motioning them foward towards their doom?  Where are the gass chambers, the furnaces?

Well, people in developed nations and developing nations alike are all well-aware of know what the doom that awaits us is.  It is a combination of 'threats' that we are bombarded with by the mainstream media on a daily basis: climate change, nuclear war, terrorism, chemical pollution in foods, cancer, aids, etc., etc.,

It is a myth that the holocaust victims were unaware of the fate that awaited them.  There were ample stories going around, many eye-witness accounts being retold, plenty of 'rumours' of where it was they were being taken and what awaited them.  These same stories and rumours were, often disbelieved, sometimes believed, but, and this is the point, these rumours were always FEARED to be true.

The holocaust victims, like ourselves, were likewise quite aware of their fate as they were forced forwards to their doom.  Not all of believe a nuclear war is on the horizon. Not all believe humanity will be wiped out by a new virus.  But we all fear it will happen, and this fear of these evetualities paralizes us, and stops us from taking even the smalles measures at preventing them.

So, Imperial, it is not laziness which stops us.  It has nothing to do with how comfortable our lives are.  It is fear, the fear of the many dark future scenarios we are bombarded with on a daily basis by our media, the inward fear within so many individuals, the inward chains which must, somehow be broken, if humans are to overcome the collective apathy of their whole human race.

Re: Oil Prices are falling....

"Uh OPEC is the top dog in the oil bidness"
- Does not Exxonmobil and other American owned energy companies buy oil off OPEC and process it? OPEC may control the procurement of unprocessed oil, but American firms have the biggest hand in taking that oil and using it to meet consumer needs. When I say a 10B cut in profit, thats after OPEC is payed.

"Public companies.......  That also pay a dividend to the shareholder."
- Funny, they don't mind paying private people dividends, but won't pay back all the billions in tax credits, grants, and written off loans to the public, now that they actually have the cash to do so. So, the public buys gas at inflated prices. They pay taxes to the Feds, while oil companies get huge breaks, and then their tax dollars to send to oil companies so their executes can afford to buy off politicians the public elects? I wonder who has the shitty end of that stick.
