Been speaking to a few people about the gap between virgo and the real gals. Its clear newbies to IC need more help adjusting to playing as a team, choosing effective races to fulfil specific roles, and mostly attacking.
This is a guide, in almost Layman's terms, which outlines some aspects of attacking.
Still a WIP, wrote in under 2 hours while very sleep deprived, stream of consciousness sorta thing tongue - i will probs go over it and sort out grammar and any facts I garbled. wink

hmm Newbies aint gonna learn all the basics of attacking in under 400 words though. Just scratched the surface there really *shrugs*

im not saying anything against it, but its the fact newbs aren't going to want to read all that just to learn the game. they would probably just skim through it anyways.

I havent read it all, but I did notice this:

"Be careful of loading your soldiers into full transports, as if some of your transports get shot down by lasers or enemy fighters

Nice guide for beginners. I still miss a good introduction for finding targets though, attacking a HC camaar of 35% your NW could really hurt smile Maybe a little addition that in the first 10 days of a round there are alot of easy grabs as there are little to none portals?

Well dont give numbers since it pretty much depends on other fams and how much your economy can support

Yea, I agree.
Entirely depends on what role your are fulfilling, who you are attacking and what stage of the round it is.
I gave one rough ratio - else some newbies may be tempted to build 50 times as many figs as they have droid, or something :x

Not bad Mace, but again, a few errors. Morale loss is affected by planet count not net worth.

Also you might want to go into detail about the "Destroy unit" op and how stating figs on home planet isn't the best idea as it's the most likely place your enemy would look

Or hover them over an opponents planet in the same sector you have a portal.
Yea, i dont actually station em on my HP - im just giving out bad advice here - ill fix lol.

Well, Ic is slowly dying, the fact that we have so many 'drownings' as people enter real gals, may be a factor in this. We cant afford to lose new players.

Give babies rubber rings and inflatable arm bands before they jump into that lake big_smile

That's why we need something like the old Tri (from like 4 years ago), where no self-respecting Vet would ever go. tongue

Also, get Stefan to change some of the rules FOR THE BETTER for once, and you'll get more players. I quit for four years in protest to iron decay. lol. I know a lot of ppl who have done the same thing. Not specifically cause of iron decay, but other bad rules, like not even Leaders being able to clean up fam forum without mods, or anyone who remembers the briefly lived "aid tax" between fam members, lol, that was the best one tongue

Also the shuffles turn ppl off, even in small fams, I know people back in the day that simply deleted cause they had bonded with their family and were mad about leaving them. I think drowning newbies doesn't help, but the rules don't help. Also, keep in mind that you can only play IC for too long, too much time taken out from RL comes back to bite you later down the road. Trust me I know. I'm starting to regret coming back to IC as my grades have immediately plummeted in Uni. tongue

Did you play in when it reopened briefly last round?
It was basically all the fresh-blood virgo newbies crammed in there. God, was it damn hard to organise the fam -.- But it was also good fun raping nearly everyone with little or no resistance big_smile

Does the official guide still say CFs make 10 gc a tic? Compared with 12? Or that a magic race bonus helps in both offensive and defensive magic. lol

The guide doesn't mention the importance of gauging the size of the enemy fleet. It also doesn't mention stationing units. Unless I missed those subjects when I was reading it.
