Topic: Oil Prices are falling....

Seems like oil is back on its historical price track.
At times in history, you will see spikes up and down in the price of any one given commodity.

Oil is no different.

See Chart, for those of you that can read a graph........not many, I know:

I would just like to thank a few people:


1.   First and Foremost President Bush......  Im so glad he and his evil oil buddy friends really care, and lowered the price of oil.

2.  The Oil Companies.  They, too, care, and have lowered oil significantly ..... even at the expense of their profits.
..............although they are greedy uncaring bastards, they are doing the correct thing for us all.

3.  The Speculators who have played oil long, and have lost a TON of cash on the futures market......thankyou.
...............Im glad you listened to all of those people, calling you evil and greedy, and gave back all that money you made, so oil can fall.

4.  OPEC, who keeps the oil flowing, and really does care about the world.

5.  To those environmental wackos out there who realized that we really DO need oil to function as a society, and called for lower prices as well, even if it does damage to the environment,........that hit for extra fuel costs was cutting into their StarBucks coffee allowance.




Thank you all, Now I can use my SUV recreationally again, and not take such a hit to the wallet.

Would any of you out there that were blaming any of the above like to express your gratitude as well ??

Then start thanking everyone.  It's called supply and demand.  That's what Black_Wing is getting to.  smile

If you didn't notice, this was pretty sarcastic: that either so-called oil elites controlled the rise in prices, in which case we get to thank them for the fall, or the fall empirically proves they're responsibility and the people who said that they controlled price rises are proven wrong.

peak oil is still there guys

the real meaning of peak oil is that at current lowered oil prices the oil companies cannot invest into new oil (because they would need to invest more than they would gain) and it means the daily output will continue to fall (we have already passed peak production rate and will never go above the record)

I don't think this was necessarily an indict of whether oil prices could be high, or whether peak oil existed.  So... okay!

EDIT: Nevermind, I read part of Black_Wing's post.  He may have been saying otherwise, so I will only speak for myself.  smile

bankers were pumping economy with their cheap out of thin air money hence artificially increasing the demand. Right now the indebtness is so high that further stimulation of demand no longer possible and we seeing a sudden return to the normal level of demand.  All these bank manipulations caused the prices fluctuations but it did not change the fact the peak oil is here

So far, all large fields are yielding WAY past what they were supposed to.

So, where is all the phantom oil coming from ??

New fields are yet to be discovered.....unless you believe there are no more.

BW.. i know and am sure that demand and supply is probablly the main factor in the oil price.
there never has been doubt about it so i dont need to state it all the time.

but now.. oil price going down that much in that short period of time simply looks too suspicious to be only supply demand.
i can for sure not generalize it like this.. but the price dropped for over 50% i simply do not believe that the demand went down THAT much that price needs to be reduced that much.

btw.. offtopic but intresting.. did you know russia needs to make new debt when oil price is below 70$ yikes

you urself said a while ago that oil would not go over 100$. you may be right.. due to demand/supply it would probablly never gotten that expensive. now add speculations on it.. and maybe some profit making companies.. and there you go.

I do not blame leftist ecologist wakos for blocking new drilling.
drilling more and more now simply is a wrong sign. instead of that we should put way more efford into new technologies.
talking about oil companies.. its an open secret that german car industry was able to build cars that consume less then 3 liters on 100km since almost over a decade or even longer. it was never done because of weird deals with oil companies.

oil simply is an endable ressource.. why put more and more energy into it instead of working harder to get rid of it more and more?

who knows how far technology would be without that blockades.

SUCH is an amazing example of how a free market should NOT work.. because it is not free.
Not only goverment can take away freedom from markets.. economy itself also can do.

If you can find one thread on any forum where I use the word "evil" to describe someone other than Republicans from Texas (with the possible exception of Flint and BW, although Flint at least can make a structured argument), 40 planets in Capri are yours.

I did however say somewhere (I think) that oil going before $70 USD per barrel would never happen again, which of course has been proven wrong. But, then again, no one expected most of the western world to sink into a recession because of greedy bankers on Wall St. But in their defense, bribing the Bush Admin. all these years has taken quite a toll on them.
