Re: The Failing of American Democracy.

Democracy is but another head on the hydra of collectivism, which is within the same veins as socialism, communism, et al. My favorite argument against democracy as an ethical model of governance is to posit the following hypothetical: If you live in a town of 100, and 51 vote in favor of raping your loved one, does this justify rape? You can replace "rape" with any issue you may be at odds with, and the logic remains the same. Why should I be forced into accepting an authority I, myself, did not vote (read: consent) to?

Acolyte.

My argument is -

If you live in a town of 100, 90 of them are convicted rapists, do you think they will vote in favor of Raping your loved one?

Replace rape with any issue as well, and the Rapist with any demographic you wish to control, and influence using methods you know will get the reaction you want, and BLAMO instant control of the people, and the power they wield to elect executive powers.
Thats the point I'm making, and yes i agree with you as well.

That's the wonder of a constitutional republic: the protection of minorities.

Ancient Athens was sickening. Citizens getting killed for no legitimate reason by vote.
