Re: Obama 08!!!!!!!
its also not as simple as people voting for someone because of their race, but for example, Palin's inexperience wasnt forgivable but Obama's inexperience was forgivable, why? because he's black.

ok, i am so sick and tired of people throwing out the race card. the fact obama is black at best, at BEST got him another 3% of votes from heavy african american communities. it doesnt matter that hes black, please point out an aa community that regularly votes republican.
Palin's inexperience wasn't forgivable because when she went on national tv in front of potential voters, she made herself look foolish. Obama is inexperienced true, but he just finished running the most organized well done election campaign in my lifetime.
McCain lost for multiple reasons
bush managed to lose a large amount of the republican faithful in recent years
his campaign focused on the wrong areas
from all the republican politicians he could have chosen as his vp, he chose the governer of alaska. it appeared to be a brilliant move at first glance, as theoretically it would gain the hillary supporters.the problem is for the first time in history, the american public managed to see through the obvious, realized she was an idiot, and voted for the lesser of two evils.
many people doubt McCain will live another 4-8 years, he needed a strong vp behind him to gain more votes (if you look at statistics of polled individuals you will see the age of the candidates was actually a bigger issue then the race) i know they aren't fully accurate, but it is believable
clearly race still matters in this county's elections. 96%, 96%! of african americans voted for Obama. if race was no longer an issue, they'd be voting close to the national average, but no, they're voting like north koreans vote for Kim Jong-il.
McCain did lose for multiple reasons and guess what, Obama won for multiple reasons, and if you dont accept that one of those reasons is his race and the race of his opponent, then you're in denial.
the majority of america is .. hey you guessed it.. white
so the majority of obamas voters were... White! .. not hard to work out

what does that have to do with anything?

if race mattered, the majority of america - the whites, would have voted for the white guy that was running.
again, those commenting on the way blacks voted, point out to me any time in the past 20 years where a black community didnt have a land slide vote for the blue
"if race mattered, the majority of america - the whites, would have voted for the white guy that was running."
i disagree. first, just because race doesnt matter to all, doesnt change the fact it matters to some and for those that race effects their choice, doesnt mean they're gonna pick the guy of their race. 2nd, there are plenty of whites feeling guilty about the pass that would love to repay african americans such as voting for one. 3rd, theres people that would consider a black person winning, progress, and would vote for him simply because they think its progression. 4th, while blacks have recently been voting largely for democrats, they havent done it to thise type of degree before, and just because blacks have been voting different then others for quite some time, doesnt trivialize the fact that race still matters in politics.
I was going to vote for Obama until i watched more of his debates and speeches. He's a captivating speaker for sure. Even more so if your enamored with him and not listening to what he's really saying. When you start to listen you hear he's not really saying much. He went for broke with promises of the future and what he would do.
We'll see how long until those promises are brushed aside and forgotten.
"
Guess who that is!"
looks like Obama with his ears chopped off.
Bush should plant a [petunia garden] at the white house before obama gets there. you know to make [it nice and pretty].

Yes, it's true he received 96% of the African American vote. However they are a minority, consisting of 17% of the population. I highly doubt that this 16% of this particular population (that voted for him) would influence the voters in any significant manner. Look at the two candidates, you have one old guy who looks like he's going to drop dead, or a younger guy who actually knows what he's talking about.
hm, let's see, Dumb, Old or Intelligent, Not Old - what would you choose.
an obama thread..and it took me 3 pages to find out
WOW
this is unacceptable X( ![]()
OBAMAAAAAARAAMMAAA ![]()
and Kadaj, more than 93% of african americans vote for a democrat anyways... this is not the first time..
"and Kadaj, more than 93% of african americans vote for a democrat anyways... this is not the first time.."
i have said that numerous times already.
also all you "OBAMA WON BECAUSE HE'S BLACK!" people. the figures from cnn, out of all the people who said race was a big part in their decision, 54% voted for Obama.
seems like everyone forgets half of our country is still full of racist bigots
ohh sorry undeath..didn't read before
i'm usually just in politics..but since yell's closing all the threads down there..i guess i had to come here ![]()

the figures from fox gave the same result ![]()
you just have to dig to find it on the fox site, they want everyone to think they only lost on race
I'm canadian, so I'm not all up to date, nor do I care to keep up on american politics.

im not necessarily saying they intentionally slanted the question, just it would be hard to ask the question and get honest responses...
lol yea i can imagine
"Did you make a selection based on race?"
"Are you calling me a racist?"
"no, but are you? towards whits or blacks?"
"oh so hispanics and brown people aren't a race now"
"so you're racist toward hispanics and brown people?"
"no, i didn't say that"
"it's ok, i got my answer --writes down doesn't like hispanics or brown people"
"no, i'm not racist towards brown or hispanics?"
"so you're racist towards .....blacks?"
"i am black.."
"oh..so whites"
"no"
"who're you racist towards then?"
"no one"
"haha LOL" ..."really"
"yes, i voted for mccain"
