And replace it with 401ks. The fact is that we can't afford it in the long run. The days of pensions and social security are so obsolete.

not only will Congress default on social security payments they will raid 401 (k)s.

How do you overcome the issue of a short term double-payment?  (That the government would have to pay for social security benefits for those who previously had social security while also maintaining the 401k program.)

supposedly everybody collecting Social Security is only getting back what they paid into it, plus interest...that's why you have your own account number...

As a Californian I can see what's coming, and that's a government that says "Oh well sucks to be you, you were lied to by an earlier government, don't like it, start a riot and get shot.  Hand over your money and nobody gets hurt."
