Re: The Presidential Debate III

"In a democracy as we live in the state represents the people.. in a democracy the power shall be by the people.. so the power and controle should be with the state since they are our representatives."

if the state represents the people. why does the government need to tax its people? if the people want their government to be bigger, they could just donate money to the government. but no, the government forces its people under threat of imprisonment, to give them a very significant portion of there income, in alot of cases over 50%. there isnt a democracy in the world, and in the current states of government, the people dont hold the power, corrupt politicians hold the power and thrive on the poor's hopes inorder for the corrupt politicians to gain power and steal the wealth of the successful and line their pockets while giving the poor just enough to keep voting for them. and that is why it is better to trust in the honest workers, who have built up their own wealth, then dirty politicians that are power and money hungry that rather steal the money from innovators then to earn it honestly.

Re: The Presidential Debate III

income tax is purely made up, nowhere can one see it in the constitution.  its simply collected because the government has a police force to aprehend you if you do not (IRS)

Re: The Presidential Debate III

To be totally honest, I didn't see McCain doing any real damage to Obama. I do think he was much firmer and more energetic, and he did come across better in this final debate, but I don't see how it'll make much a of a difference. Obama calmly replied to all of McCain's accusations, cooly called Palin an airhead an instigator of violence and walked away pretty much untouched.

McCain was better, if he had started like this he could have fired up his supporters. Now I have big doubts. Plus the market crash was a campaign killer.

Re: The Presidential Debate III

Taxes are a necessary part of a country. Who will protect our liberties from threats? Ofcourse there are those that believe we should take from the rich and give to the poor. I don't see how this will improve the economy but the American people insist that Obama knows what he's talking about on the economy. I would vote for obama for his foreign policy and mccain for his economy.

And about democracy... we lie blatantly when we say we are a democracy. The day when a libertarian gets a chance in contesting this country will really be a democracy. Right now it is either this douchebag or the other douchebag. Both are complete douchebags but one of them is a smaller douchebag than the other larger douchebag. How can this be called a democracy by anyone?

Re: The Presidential Debate III

"How can this be called a democracy by anyone?"

You don't have to vote at all, you know.

yup...

"You don't have to vote at all, you know."

we dont have to vote, and you know what, it doesnt make a difference if we do or dont vote.
our rights are mere illusions. cant even assemble unless the government doesnt care about the cause.

"if the state represents the people. why does the government need to tax its people? if the people want their government to be bigger, they could just donate money to the government."

so what if there would be no taxes? what streets would you drive on?
How would your police be payed? How your fire fighters... How would you maintain a military?
All by donations?

For sure you as a single being are not in controle. but i am pretty certain that if a goverment [the forums mods pwned me before i knew it] up enough to make a big part of the population pretty unhappy.. the population can do its part to have the goverment removed.

Re: The Presidential Debate III

ok i just saw the first part of the debate..

where was the big blow to obama? i didn't see a game changer or even a big blow to anything..
wtf is everyone talking about? i feel like i missed it tongue

or is it just that the expectations of the first part were set too high and once i watched it...it was a total downer?

Re: The Presidential Debate III

McCain did an excellent job. He attacked attacked attacked but Obama kept his composure. So....it was like too little too late.

Re: The Presidential Debate III

what I can't understand is how a democratic nation can only have two party's. That's forcing such a large population to select the lesser of two evils. For example, in Canada, we have five different parties to choose from.

Americans would get too confused by that

You wind up forming coalitions

And then you're back to two, the govt and the opposition.

Dear Mr BlackWing, i'm a 21 year old law student who just enjoys messing around with hombres like yourself who are not as well read or well educated as myself.

for example: knew does not = new, even after an edit you got that one wrong.  I know your type, I live in upstate NY and they're everywhere, they show up in court quite often and whenever they show up, they generally have no idea about anything they're talking about.  Please dont try to have a battle of wits with me when you yourself are quite obviously unarmed.

I'm a psychology major, It will soon be my job to get inside people's skulls. I also find that the Canadian education system is a little bit more accessible than the American. Ok, back to topic i guess ^.^
