Topic: Kath and Kim... the US version

I missed the premiere tonight but people I've talked to expressed things along the lines of "eyes bleeding".

The original was a very satirical portrayal of Australian suburbia, and the actors were not chosen on their looks so I'm a bit worried that the younger, slimmer cast of the US version was chosen to hide some terrible writing. But at the same time simply based on the fact that the show is supposed to be a parody of suburban life relative to the county in question I'm worried that any criticism I make of the show would be ignorant of the US specific jokes it would make.

So, did anyone here manage to see it and have any thoughts to share?
