Topic: The Stock Watchers!

lol, well we needed a thread for this

i think just about everyone agrees that this is a GREAT time to buy in, some people think it's a few weeks away, some people think it's a few months away, and some people think it's already here

i personally wanna wait a few more weeks, just to play it safe

however, let's discuss, when getting in, what stocks are you watching out for? which ones are you observing? which ones do you think are really really de-valued(all of them are, but some are just UNBELIEVABLE)

what do you guys think?

Re: The Stock Watchers!

some of the stocks i wanna watch out for

PG, BBD.B/BBD.A, WMT, GOOG, CSCO, LINE, RIG

i'm guna probably start buying BBD.B really soon, only a matter of days for that one smile

Re: The Stock Watchers!

Well, I don't really follow stocks. But I was just thinking about the moving-away from petroleum products - with all of its engineering aspects. It will affect the current oil companies negatively in the short term, but I am looking at General Electric, Sharp, Finmecchanica, Westinghouse (they have multiple subsidiaries... and I dont know the stock codes for them.)

In a year or two, GM or the company that inherits it... might actually be also a good choice. Nah, probably not.

Oh, and I forgot 'Linear.'

I am all-in on electrics.

Re: The Stock Watchers!

Glad, just hold your enthusiasm for a bit.

The stocks are low, but they'll go lower, a lot. It's not over yet. Do some research, please, you're sounding like you're about to win the lottery. It's not a lottery and it's not quick cash.  It's not even an investment you're planning, it's wild speculation based on nothing, and nothing else than a huge drop. I usually agree with you, but you're acting pretty stupid on this.

Re: The Stock Watchers!

wow, usually agree with me tongue never thought i'd hear that wink

but yeah zoz, you're right i am too excited for my own good, cuz this is a one in a lifetime opportunity, and i understand it can make me rich in a couple of 5 years

but yeah, it's not over this global recession SHOULD last a bit over a year, probably 14-18 months, cuz history has shown it usually lasts near 16-18 months
however, the stock market and stock prices are only a product of this economic crisis, they're not the base of it
i think within a few weeks(2-4) we should see the bottom of some stocks, others still have a rough patch to go
that's why i opened this thread, i'm looking out for those that i mentioned above, i think they're guna see their bottom soon

Re: The Stock Watchers!

It looks like it's starting to plateau just a little a bit.  Although, I'm no economist, I think we've yet to see other markets get hit.  I think we'll clearly see just how bad shape we're in once the XMAS season comes around.

Re: The Stock Watchers!

retailers might get hit a bit
but tell you what.. people can't stop buying toothpaste and ttoothbrushes smile
PG for the win big_smile

Re: The Stock Watchers!

Maybe 5-6 years before they start taking off again? I don't think it'd be faster than that - because of the energy problems facing the economy.

I am all-in on electrics.

Re: The Stock Watchers!

With the steep drop in oil prices, I don't think energy will be as big of an issue.

Re: The Stock Watchers!

well, it is if you look beyond a year. It is too unstable market if you have to plan for a year or two ahead.

I am all-in on electrics.

Re: The Stock Watchers!

I'm not gonna lie - I'm all for the drop tongue
UP pretty big over the last year

The winME fund is on the rise big_smile

Re: The Stock Watchers!

everyone must understand that the past years have seen one bubble forming over another (south east asian financial markets; tech; real estate; oil; commodities);

you can throw a lot of common sense investment principles out of the window

obvious examples are "bank shares are a sound and stable investment" and "real estate values only go up" --> a lot of people who kept following this investment axiom lost a lot of money

I think the next prime candidate for a bubble is alternative energy sources

I had the same idea East, as candidate for next bubble.

Re: The Stock Watchers!

smiof, you're right.
it is an unstable market, the rate of change is great and there are too many unknowns
BUT, even so, it shouldn't take 5-6 years for the stocks to be on the upside again- for some maybe, but for the most part no
it should only take about 2-4 months, after that there may be a few hickups but, the prices you're guna get within the next few weeks are guna be unbeatable

and winME i wanna be part of that fund tongue

Re: The Stock Watchers!

oil, I'll wait a bit for oil.

Re: The Stock Watchers!

"Na,price of oil is collapsing"

the idea of profiting from a bubble is buying when everybody is understimating it; the reaon why oil is collapsing is because of fear the economy is going into recession, when we have a boom time again you will see it rise again

Re: The Stock Watchers!

idd, hence I wait a bit. Cause low oil will cause a boost. And a boost will cause high oil.

Re: The Stock Watchers!

The bottom was here. Predicting the FTSE and Dow to move up tonight.

Re: The Stock Watchers!

it will move up, but this wasn't the bottom..

Re: The Stock Watchers!

Han, I hope you're not saying it's a bad idea to get into the stock market...

Re: The Stock Watchers!

BW not truely diversified all somewhat tech related even though I keep wishing I had bought Corning when it was @ like $1.50

I'm going to be nicer promise

Re: The Stock Watchers!

Are you saying stocks are undervalued based on what they are valued at 6 months ago or based on the companies potential for profits in the next 2 years?

I dont see how companies like IBM, Apple and Microshaft will increase profits in the next couple of years.

The stock market is probably valued at the right price now, with the potential to drop another 30%
